    Could perhaps be. I tried fixes that others have suggested (ensuring only 1 device is connected, downgrading to fw 1.0.4), but still no luck, unfortunately.

    Mine have stutter every now and then when i jog with them. I change my phone, it does get better much less stutter, My old phone have metal back, and the new one have plastic back. But it doesn't change the fact the range is a bit short. it start to stutter when i was 5m (16 feet) away. Not sure whether its a bad unit, but from other people impression, especially from people who have both BTR5 and BTR3K, it seems the slightly newer BTR3K is still far better in connection. Which may suggest, Fiio are aware about the receiver flaw and fixed it the newer product.

    I've been using the BTR5 with a pair of Fiio FH9's that I won from a local audio shop giveaway near me, the prize also inc luded a Fiio M11 Plus II. I absolutely fell in love with Fiio after this. Before Fiio I was using a pair of NF Audio NE4's connected to a YinLvMei A2 Portable Player that I bought used from a shop for just 320CHF, it's around a grand new. Even though the YinLvMei looks better, the Fiio is a much better player. Though my favorite audio player is still my 40th Anniversary Walkman from Sony, look it up yourself and you'll see why.

    Very interesting. Perhaps try and set the source devi e on a table or something, then turn around whilst holding the BTR5 near your stomach and walk away from the source device (so your back is to the source device). Check how far you can get before the signal starts cutting out.

    Thanks for checking that out. Honestly, I couldn't get more than about 10 feet at most doing that. And then it was also the issue of it breaking up even if I just had the source device and BTR5 in different pockets. Might just be the unit I received having issues, or perhaps a slightly wider QC issue. I remember seeing another person comment about the poor signal strength they were getting (can't remember if it was a YT or FB comment), and that prompted me to test it out too. Was rather bummed when I experienced the same issue.

    Did you have the BTR5 paired to more than one device? I can get up to 15 meters with AAC and a little less with LDAC but when connected to more than one device the signal will break up once one of the devices is a few meters away from the BTR5, even when the device that is playing audio is with me. Being connected to more than one device is convenient because I can use the BTR5 with either without having ti reconnect but a bit of a plain when I forget to disconnect from the one I'm not using before l go for a walk around the house.

    If you are on the fence about this product, don't let the connectivity issues scare you. The connection on the other DAC modes isn't the best, but is still decent when moving around the room. But with LDAC, I can climb two flights of stairs, with my phone in the basement and the btr5 on the top floor, and not have any issues with connectivity.

    Sadly, the FiiO Music App is horrible. I got the BTR3 a couple of months ago. Started playing with all the settings available through the app and started to get connection and volume issues. Decided to uninstall the app and forget the BTR3 on my paired devices. Configured it again from zero and just forgot to use the app and all the problems stopped. I'm the guy that asked you for this review a couple of videos ago because I just ordered it. Hope I don't get any of the issues you talk about on your video! I'll keep you posted.

    I think the newest BTR3K is overall a better product. It combines all the good aspects of BTR3 and BTR5. The BTR3K has 2.5 balanced output, excellent Bluetooth range, and also in a smaller form factor like BTR3. It doesn’t have NFC, anyway I hardly use that feature, eventually one device needs to be paired only once. Worth mentioning it doesn’t have a text display, but the colour coding for various Bluetooth formats woks quite well.

    finally someones who explain the distorsion compensation feature.. so by your explanation : if i dial the second harmonic to level 5 and leave the third harmonic on 0 the sound should be more analog / musical and if i leave the second harmonic on 0 and set the third harmonic to level 5 it should give a bit more colder / analytical sound? also one more question, whats the difference between the clock divider level settings?

  • @samma3afans

    @samma3afans

    4 жыл бұрын

    Correct... Even order harmonics (primarily 2nd order) occur naturally, and thus tend to sound more pleasing. Odd harmonics (third) tend to sound harsher/more analytical. Not sure about the clock divider, to be honest.

    My Bluetooth range is 7m (~22ft) with LDAC on a Samsung A5 (2017) and only 4m (~13ft) on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. Both Measurements outside in the garden. Inside the first wall breaks the signal. Not good at all. Tried to downgrade the firmware which did nothing better. Then I tried an other position of the phone. I brought it to anmore vertival position with a stand instead lying flat on the table. That did it. The gain was about 4m (~13ft) The issue seems to depend on your transmittingh device and the placement of the sending antenna. All in all the BTR5 seems to have an OKish Bluetooth module. Things go worse when transmitter and receiver don't match.

    Practically the Bluetooth transmitter feature while connected via USB is not needed at all. When connected to mobile via USB, it doesn't make sense to use it as Bluetooth transmitter. The same applies to laptops too, except usually laptops don't support hi-res codecs. Anyhow in any case, the decoding process is done by headphones itself, so no use of additional transmitter, or DAC, as it doesn't make any difference. It just takes data, and transfer... No decoding done in the device. So practically no use. Better to transmit directly from mobile or laptop

    Android devices have LDAC codec built-in. It was proprietary codec for Sony, but now it bacame part of Android. So, If you use it with LDAC codec, probably no difference between wired and wireless, unless you have a very resolving and expensive earphones. Another thing, it charges from the device. So your mobile battery drains. So better use with Bluetooth only
