Спорт

An essential drill for Ice Skaters of all Ice Sports.
Joining our Forward and Backward Cross Overs to allow us to gain maximum training time and true multi-directional rehearsal.
This drill becomes somewhat of a meditation on our basic skills and is well worth learning and repeating!

Thank you for the video! The Mohawk you did when switching between forward to backward at 2:33 , you didn’t create a “floating T” position for it (learned from your Mohawk video). Can you help explain when I need to make a “floating T” and when not?

Hi @jow491 Watch again 🙂 the concept of the T (a relatively disciplined approach of the free foot to the exiting skating foot) is present. In this version that T or angle at the feet is very loose. The tight T we learned in our first Mohawk videos is essential for learning good habits as our baseline of technique. From a good clean baseline we are able to loosen or dilute our shapes as we become more able to anticipate our balance during weight transfers and so on. Once we are skating with great mastery and flow, it is usually only the Ice Dancers who retain the purest T positioning of their feet during turns, particularly during Pattern Dances and Step Sequences. The demo here, was more a generic free style that would be suitable for Figure Skaters, Free Stylers and Ice Hockey

This is exactly what I was looking for, all it says on the BIS Learn to skate is “Forwards and backwards crossovers in a figure of 8”

Love this! Could you give us tips for a better lean into the circle while doing backward crossovers? I struggle getting a good lean, like I am either slight leaning outside or am upright. Im not sure how to fix it.
