One of my favorite suits in the franchise, and her Varia suit later in the game is probably my second favorite ever. The designers were incredibly inspired.

Yes! The Varia suit in Dread doesn't get as much attention, but it's the best Varia suit of all games (as far as I'm concerned). I really hope we get the Varia suit as well as the Metroid Suit and Raven Beak from this game.

Seeing you this happy with a figure has been a high point for the year. Thanks for another year of good, honest content, Anthony.

I love this design, it's basically an evovled version of the Fusion suit. The blue looks excellent

Hope you see this Anthony because I think it'll bump your rating of 9.5 for articulation to a 10. The waist can be pulled up to allow the legs to do more of a split as well as get crunch out of the mid section. It was rough for me to pull upward because I kept popping the upper section off from the torso. I found it easier to hold the torso and push down on the sides of the crotch piece to free them from the connection. Once you do that you'll get better range from the hips and the increased crunch. I didn't know she did that either until I saw another reviewer mention it. She's such a great figure and I'm so glad I was able to snag her preorder last year. Just give me the Super suit as well as a Ridley and I'll be happy.

This suit is great, love the colors. I do prefer Super too as a default look but this is clean. I hope they do the armor from the end of this game. She was on some Doomslayer energy. Cracked out and busted.

That wall piece at 6:32 is supposed to be Samus holding on to or sliding down a wall. I think a specific upgrade is needed to wall jump off of those walls though, but it's kind of weird to have such a tiny section of the wall though. Also, at 7:36, I like that the diagram shows how the hips and waist ball peg skeleton looks. It's just cool seeing a figure's mechanics without having to take it apart

Previously the Fusion suit was my favorite, but this suit is perfection in my opinion. It combines the best aspects of her old suits with the organic blue from the Fusion suit, along with a killer silhouette courtesy of those boots. The two-toned red on the helmet is part of the design, it's like that in cutscenes as well and it's not a shadow, though I don't really know why it's designed that way, just a subtle accent I suppose. I've waited over a year for this figure and I'm so happy it is everything I could have hoped for, it is so fun to pose and it looks incredible on a shelf.

I love this design for Samus, so I’m glad she got a really good figure. Who would have thought a figma could be so posable? If Good Smile can keep this up, it would be great to see them update characters like Ryuko. ^^

For a non traditional suit, I love this design. I think the Fusion one still clears it, but this one is so clean. Super Metroid is my preference as well though. Mine came in the other day, and I was completely blown away. Metroid is my all time favorite game series and Dread was just amazing. This figure is so fun to handle and play around with, exceptional on so many fronts. Really glad you’ve enjoyed it so much as well. It’s definitely my figure of the year, and would be even without my personal Metroid bias. I’m just so happy to have it. Hope they don’t revert back to older ways if they do Super.

This is by far my favorite Samus suit design, with the Fusion suit being my former favorite. As iconic as the classic Varia is, I feel that Samus getting different suit looks toward the end of the Metroid chronology shows that the series is not interested in relying on nostalgia and refuses to stagnate,willing to make changes. Unlike alternate looks for, say, Superman in the comics, Samus Aran's story-relevant changes in looks generally become accepted.

Prime suit will always be my favorite but I really like this suit and the colors for it. Regarding the packaging Figma has been using this style for a bit now noticed it first with the fluted armor but I don’t get too many figma to say for sure how long they have been doing it. Love this figure got mine last week.

I forgot to mention, in the torso you can extend it so you have more articulation in the waist and the legs

@@AnthonysCustoms yeah, you saw that thing that was connecting when you showed the legs? So you like pull it and have ridiculous range of motion and the legs can go farther out and the waist joint too

The Fusion suit is probably my favorite or at least my biggest point of reference since I never grew up with the OGs. This designed really worked for me. Good figure means I might have to get it. And I love directions for collectibles. Costs nothing to include and can improve the longevity of the figure.

Can't wait until I get this figure next year. I was beyond excited when Dread got announced, pre-ordered the special edition and was waiting for the Dread suit to get a figure after seeing how agile she is in the game. Glad to see that this figure didn't disappoint.

My favorite suit is the Prime-era Varia suit, because those were the first Metroid games I ever played. But this one is gorgeous too and I’d be hard-pressed to think of a bad Samus suit (not counting pre-Varia ones where they have no shoulder balls and look real weird 😅). Just shipped this from BBTS today, I can’t wait for her to arrive. Seems like there’s been a streak of real positive reviews on the channel lately (at least what I’ve been watching), I’m glad you’ve gotten to mess with some quality figures!

I didn't _mind_ the original Fusion suit, and thought it was cool enough in Fusion, but it also wasn't my favorite armor. This new redesign of the Fusion suit, however, is top tier. Murcury Steam got some crazy awesome designers working for them and this is absolutely inspired. Replacing the yellow base armor with white made the colors no longer clash, and replacing the turquoise with ice blue makes a gorgeous combo. They kept the organic webbing over the armor, but made it look like muscle fibers wrapping the limbs, which is sick looking, AND they brought back the iconic spherical shoulder pads. I think this may be right under the classic Varia for me design wise, and if this is her new standard armor going forward I am totally fine with that.

I got mine in not too long ago and yeah, it's a wonderful piece, and probably the best figma that I own period. The only real issue I have with it is that if you compare it to the in game model, there are some paint apps that are missing, but at the very least most of those are ones that almost anyone, even if they're an amateur, can fill in themselves. Really hoping this figure gets used a base mold for more Samus figures in the future, even if they are just other suits from Dread.

This has me even more hyped for the upcoming Guyver figma.

Really looking forward to getting mine in! The recently released Fluted Armor figma also came with the fancy extra packaging and had double-jointed knees and elbows. Not sure how they decide what figures get the special treatment. Or which figures get the bigger display stand. Gojo came with one even though he doesn't have any accessories or effect parts that would make use of the extra holes

I was super impressed with this figure when it came, glad to see it wasn’t just me! I really hope you’ll review the E.M.M.I also. Mine just arrived and holy fuck, the engineering is something else. I've always found Figma to be (mostly) excellent, but Dread Samus and the E.M.M.I are something else. Now that the precedent for larger dogures has been set (the E.M.M.I is _massive_ lol), I hope we'll get figures of Raven Beak and, of course, the iconic and long-overdue Ridley.

I love the Dread Power Suit design. The organic fibers do a lot for me, and the way they wrap around the arms and legs bring to my mind the idea of athletic tape bandages, and combined with the leaner build really sells the dynamic, athletic movements Samus displays in later games. Samus' giant shoulderpads are iconic though, so I'm glad to see them return in other upgrades too! Regarding the different shade of red on the helmet -- that's actually accurate to the ingame model! There's a few different shades of blue and red they use to segment the armor further. Speaking of the armor, the white sections really could have used some panel lining (which I did on mine), and the soles are missing their green lights (a non issue, tbh). The only real flaw I have with the deco is the lack of black on the hands, which makes sense because those joint lines are tiny, but it looks pretty blank without it.

I like the look, figure looks great & fun- apparently local game shop is going to get one in so might grab it there.

I got mine the other day and LOVED it. Game accurate or not, I would have loved a right normal arm. I love the color scheme, and I've regretted not getting the early figma Samus figures. I'd love them to get a reissue as the aftermarket prices are steep.

It’s my favourite design for the suit in the franchise since I really enjoyed the metroid fusion designs as well but the super Metroid suits are really cool

Seeing this review makes me want to grab my figma and play with it a little more, mine has a few paint chips and scratch on the crotch area and it's driving me nuts. Id love to see figure versions of super metroid suit and fusion suit.

Mine arrived yesterday, and i was speachless!! I posted some photos in my twitter of her alongside Raven Beack and the rest of my Metroid figures collection.

Amazing figure. I'm more of a casual collector, but I got the figma demon's souls and bloodborne lady maria figures which in my opinion are so damn cool. The packaging for those two are similar to this dread figure too.

I had to cancel my pre-order because... money, and you've made me regret it! Glad to hear it's good, Figma is so inconsistent these days but when they hit they hit hard and this seems better than even those figures. Love this suit, even though I haven't gotten around to playing Dread either, so I'm excited to eventually get this.

This is my favorite suit honestly

Got mine on December 19th and I lost something from it: time. Posing this figure has been effortless including shooting stances from different artwork sources like Metroid Prime, a walking pose like in Dread, the Metroid II coverart stance, ALL of Dread main arts... all of that relying on the stand. I compared the figure in neutral stance to the in-game model in the same stance and the proportions are near on-point. My only real issues are the biceps that can pop off but they can be put back without issue. This one has been a ton of fun... and had convinced me to put one of her friends back in his hellish coffin.

I'm a stickler when it comes to the Prime 1 Varia Suit, especially now with the Remastered but the Super Metroid Varia (which is the same as the Metroid II Varia) will always be legendary. In the context of gameplay and animation, the Dread Power Suit is exceptional. It's the most fun she is gameplay-wise. Seeing all the reviews, I'm really impressed. I'm getting mine this week just before Christmas, and I'll probably not get another Figma unless the EMMI robot goes on discount. Of all characters I would have wanted an action figure of, Samus was at the top but I never had the money before. Now that I was able to afford one, it is done. Regarding articulations, this is how they should have done Doom Slayer with the shoulderpads. Also, those butterfly joints are just... wonderful!

I really like this suit design, not big on the varia suit for dread(too much yellow). But I like the gravity suit design. I really like this figure was messing with it at work yesterday. Now I wish we could get a fusion suit figure.

Super Metroid suit will always be my favorite. But I do love this design. Probably second favorite look for her.

A few months late but I'm stoked for this review. I know you're a hard sell at times, so this video gives me gratification for my purchase, lol. It's gonna look amazing with the upcoming E.M.M.I. from Figma! Thanks Brotha

This figure really earned its Nintendo Seal of Quality, I consider Figmas to be flimsy yet inflexible, but this figure is solid and has some incredible range of movement, and it really feels premium, no wonder it comes with that outer sleeve, they really are nailing the idea this is not your average Figma.

Love this figure a lot mine came like 3 days ago and it is amazing. The poseabilty was insane. Really hope they do her purple suit and metroid suit. Also can somebody make a ridley.

. I would pay you lots of money to get blast effects, in game graple hook and some flame thrusts to pose her running with the speed booster on.

My favorite part about this figure are the shoulders. It’s crazy how well they work.

Really wish I didn’t need to wait a month to get a replacement shoulder for this. Seems like I was just unlucky as I haven’t heard anyone else with the same problem.

I was expecting to preorder this when it was first announced, but between the price and my go-to place for Japanese figures seemingly not getting it for some reason, I decided to skip it. I can't exactly say I'm *regretting* it since I'm not swimming in cash currently, but I sure do feel like I'm missing out! lol 😂😂 I loved the game and I love the design of this suit, so I'm really happy to see the figure turned out so well. I'm not personally clamoring for a Super Metroid version (I'm happy enough with my Other M figma) but if they did one that's this good I sure wouldn't complain. Maybe if they did it in a Gravity Suit colourway to complement the Samus I already have, I might have a harder time talking myself out of it...

Good evening , I've just bought this figure as a auto-gift for my birthday and this is my first Figma / figure , I was a little scared because it looks so fragile but your video give me the confidence I need. While I can't wait to get the figure, as Metroid Dread is my favourite game in a long time, and the suit looks excellent, I can't help but be disappointed with some decisions made with this figure. The lack of accessories for the price point (only one of the two modes for the Omega Cannon and no muzzle for the regular cannon to go into missile launcher mode are weird oversights, why do the Omega Cannon if you only give half the options ?) and the placement of the hips joints making them look super weird when splayed are problems that shouldn't be present, even more at this price point. I will still enjoy the figure but I can't help but feel it could have been way better with better looking hips and the right accessories.

Had to cancel my pre-order... Will get it when money is right.

Did you se the new marvel legends reveals? They finally did a comic book sabertooth, but as usual the head is too big. Would be awesome if you made some better sized head sculpts for the figure.

The Prime 3 version is phenomenal and one of my favorite figures I have while the Other M version was a decent release. Really hope to get this one but that price…yikes.

That darker part on the front of her helmet is actually supposed to be slightly more metallic looking in the game compared to the rest of her helmet.

I swear every figma samus just manages to 1-up the previous one. I once thought the other m Samus was amazing, but this one blows it out of the water!

This looks dope. Not $125 dope for my money, but dope nonetheless.

One thing that really disappoints me is that they've gone back to doing just neon green paint apps for the light up parts of her suit, whereas I think the transparent pieces with metallic paint behind them that they used for the Prime 3 figma were a much, much better choice for her visor and other various parts of her suit that are supposed to light up.

I was wondering if you’d be reviewing this eventually. I knew you’d be generally happy with this one. I love that figma is branching out to better looking knees and elbows. There’s also apparently some type of mechanic where if you pull the hips down the lower waist ball joint gets extra range.

@@AnthonysCustomsit does actually - the graph showing the hip joints has a little arrow indicating the abdomen section can move up and down. But to be fair I'd probably missed it too if I hadn't seen others mention it first!

A 3rd party company needs come out with blast effects for the metroid figmas. Prime 3s cannon hole is just a horrible tease.

It feels like the only line they really try with anymore is Fate (and maybe Jujutsu Kaisen if they feel like fighting Figuarts), and some of those designs just... aren't conducive to action figures. And even when they are, Figma sometimes still drop the ball. They just care about Nendoroids more now.

The Fluted Knight is also fantastic. Great sculpt, lots of accessories, and surprisingly good articulation for the design. The only issue is price, and mine had some tight hips (solved easily with shock oil)

Man ... I'm malding so hard right now because UPS sent my Samus to the wrong address 😭 Dread is one of my favorite renditions of her suit, and I hope they try and make a figure for her suit at the end of the game. I'd also kill for a Dark Samus someday. Happy to hear she's a good figure; I just hope Good Smile can replace/refund mine and I can get my hands on this Figma W. Great review as always 👍
