O'Malley clearly wants a risk-free title fight. But it really doesn't make sense from the UFC's point of view. Both Sean and Ilia are potential superstars and it would be a lot smarter to build them separately. If Sean were to win, Ilia's momentum would be gone and he'd lose the aura of being undefeated - even worse if he gets KO'd. Ilia winning wouldn't be as bad for Sean, but it would still be a major hit to his popularity. If you want an example, Izzy's fame never fully recovered after Jan beat him at 205 despite him retaining his belt. What the UFC should do right now is keep both Ilia and Sean in their respective divisions. If either of them want to move up in weight, it should be against someone who isn't a star (or Conor, who would just be a surefire win for someone like Ilia).

Bo Nickal is on the main card because a lot of Americans love wrestling and Bo Nickal is very well known for being a great wrestler. I think the UFC is hoping they might attract a few more buys from people wanting to check out what he's doing in MMA.
