i thought most rock climbing gyms pretty much had crash mat like flooring to avoid this exact situation from happening

even with crash mats from that height it will still happen if you land like that.

For top rope or lead climbing, the pad is useless. Bouldering has thicker pads at the gyms since you’re meant to jump down.

For the ones I've climbed at, only the bouldering gyms have crash mats. You don't need a crash mat if you have a rope.

Most rock climbing centres have crash mat flooring in the bouldering section (without a harness).

He could have been checking for fibrillation. Probably not what the writers were going for considering most medial dramas use defibrillators when the patient is flat lining, and basically never show depictions of fibrillation.

Dislocated bones can push out against the skin, a family member dislocated their elbow and it was pressing tight against the skin A break usually breaks through the skin because it’s jagged and sharp (just giving information, not coming at you or anything btw)

Dislocated ankles can look like that, since the Talus and Calcaneus(bones of the ankle) are a synovial joint rather than a single piece. If it dislocated and doesn't slip back in that's entirely possible.
