@@Ad-ho7hc are you asking how to convey that in a screenplay through actions, fewer words, theme, and artistry? Yes, there is. But like most of the time when you see expositional dialogue, it's simply laziness that carries that day. Most times it's viewed as too subtle for the audience. If that's the case, then fine, you just have dumbed down dialogue. Got it. Speilberg used to get around this by adding a layer of tension to the exposition. a good example of this is Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indiana and Sala are talking about the markings on the medalion and how high the staff is supposed to be. It's completely expositional but Indy is tossing a poisoned date around and we are more worried about him eating that than what they are saying. That's more sophisticated than what they did in Maverick. Please don't get me wrong, I've seen Maverick 6 times now and love it. But it's not flawless and it's a good study to identify the weak parts.

I'm glad you guys noticed what I did about their training. They simulated a route that they have to take for the actual mission, but they're also flying in a canyon during practice. So did they just happen to find a canyon that is exactly the same as the one for the mission and required the exact same maneuvers? And if that's the case, how did they hit a wall in the simulated one and not die for real? Edit: Okay, another thing! When Maverick says they're going to pull a 9 G climb out of the crater and it will likely bend their airframe, how are they practicing it without, you know, bending the fucking airframe? Are they just sacrificing dozens of F-18's to attempt this?

Funny part about the timeline that is pushed to speed up the strike. 1: The Navy cares about the enemy's remote, inhospitable doom valley enough to worry about irradiating it in the first place. 2: Treating a nuclear enrichment facility as if it doesn't take MONTHS to process even a few kilograms of material. "Oh, we have to hit the place before they get their first shipment!" "Why?" "Because then it'll have material in it!" "How is that a problem?" "They'll be able to process weapons grade uranium!" "...In what universe does a centrifuge get you weapons grade uranium in five minutes?" I'd be going: 'Hey, why don't we wait for the first shipment to arrive, then bomb it at our leisure? Then they're not just down an enrichment facility, but they've also lost the raw resources of their entire first shipment!'

I think you fellas may have missed the premise here. This feels similar to when you hand in a paper and the professor is taking a red pen to everything.😂 I still love hearing what the filmmakers got right and what they got wrong.
Definitely found it a bit ridiculous when Phoenix was "shocked" at losing hydraulic pressure after extinguishing both engines. Also the whole sustained g's after going vertical was skeptical at best.
Guys I really enjoy your takes on this movie! Still at the same time it remains one of my favorite movies of all time 👍 It’s so good to the point that it requires that level of reality checks from real fighter pilots! Fun to watch 😁😎
I am dying over here. This is some of the best reaction vids I've seen. 😂😂😂
I wonder with the bird strike if the species makes any difference to the likelihood of damage, or even blind luck. I work with a guy who's serviced more aircraft than I know about. He had a Bucaneer take birds through both engines. One engine was (more or less) fine. The other lit up like a bonfire and they couldn't find a single turbine blade in it when it came back. Rhino is half a century newer though so it's not exactly like for like.
Back when the F-14 was new (1st sea tour with VF-1 and 2) they would assign a corridor, x deg from carrier, any aircraft in this corridor was sending out a challenge to take on all comers. So on the way back to the carrier, the F-14's A-7's and A-6 would all fly that corridor and dogfight anyone who showed up. Does that still happen?
So good guys. So good. Laughing so freaking hard.. Still loved the film. We had no clue of course, though we sail and your comments reminded us of when we watched All is Lost. Keep it up.
I could watch this all day.
The bird strike scene also gave me anxiety, I knew the scene was all wrong and they shouldn´t have crashed, her reaction looked very messy. I was waiting for this reaction to see what was actually the checklist for the F18 in this situation.

You two are having way too much fun doing this😀
Man, It'd be sad to see this reaction series of yours of Top Gun come to an end
I love every single part of this series! I ADORE Monica Barbaro in every single one of them (looking at my profile picture, you can obviously tell that Phoenix is my favorite) and I love Top Gun Maverick. Thank you so much for this! ❤️❤️❤️

They said in the original reaction video back in May, that Monica had the most convincing reaction to the G Forces. While everyone else looked like they were constipated, Monica just looked slightly bothered which is what a lot of experienced pilots posting GoPro footage of themselves look like.
