FIGHTER JETS LOW FLYING SIDEWINDER USA

Spent a week on the Sidewinder Low Level route with rattle snakes and Black widow spiders!! for the of chasing USAF & NAVY and we were treated to some rare aircraft C-17 mega Low!! plenty of F-18s Fouga Magister, Vandy (the black hornet), F16s F-35 A B & C including RAF UK
It was a great holiday which included a trip to Miramar Airshow and Huntington beach Airshow!
Photos with my new Nikon Z8 70-200 F2.8 filmed on Sony AX 53 but I did not have time to get to grips with my new Z8 before going and 200mm was not enough reach!

40 years ago, I was a C-141 navigator. My crews flew a lot of this combat training for ingress to and egress from drop zones. I usually was the only crew member standing up in the cockpit so I could map read the route and control progress for our mission objectives. Flying like a bat out of hell through a valley and looking up at mountains was exhilarating.

You might understand my love/hate relationship with C141 "Stardrifters". 50+ years ago I was just another dirt dart (505th PIR 82nd ABN DIV) exiting A models in flight, at night, with over half my body weight strapped on. Good times. bad times. I wish you were the Navigator on the lifts that resulted in no jump because the air crews couldn't "get it done".

@@greenfire6924 To me no one "...was just another dirt dart..." You trained for - and sometimes accomplished - real world missions. I salute you and all others who volunteered for this difficult duty, some of whom paid a heavy price. As for air crews that couldn't assist you in git'n 'er done, training missions are necesssary for them too. We didn't want unsuccessful low level drop missions either. Most emphatically, we didn't want troop drops with loss of life, especially for training sorties. I had one of those at KPOB during a HALO drop. When an aircrew calls a no drop, there is/are reasons (sometimes dangerous) that are oftentimes not readily apparent to drop troops. Again, I salute you for your service. This we will defend! HOOAH!

For those wondering why aviators are announcing their entry into Sidewinder Point Alpha, the following procedural controls apply in this airspace: "All aircraft operating on the Sidewinder/Jedi Transition will utilize the R-2508 low altitude common frequency 315.9. When entering low level environment transmit in the blind call sign, number and type of aircraft, and intentions. Monitor 315.9 until exiting low altitude regime." "Points will be flown sequentially (i.e. A, B, C…M or C, J, K…M, etc.). OPPOSITE DIRECTION IS PROHIBITED."

@@fordwrc2006 Think of Starwars as a shortcut through the Sidewinder which is a rough "A" shape with a rounded instead of pointed top. The slash though the middle of the "A" is Starwars route. AFAIK flights are still prohibited at low altitudes within that route.

I had a close encounter with a c17 at silver lake south of tahoe about four years ago (few hours north of this videos location) I was kayaking, taking a break on the island and this monster flew in from the nevada side where the dam is and flew so low incould see the co-pilots face and they banked so hard i thought a wing was going to hit a tree! Its quite the experience! I saw him wave back at me as I waved my american flag shirt at him. I love your channel man. Every video you post im watching. No negativity. Just awesome shots of planes! I was in Denmark a few years ago and they have an air force base that fly F-16's (they were doing NATO missions then). The Danes were in the process of starting to use F-35's and they were so much louder the residents went crazy. The Danish government then drew several imaginary circles around the air field and residents within the inner rings were offered to either have their homes sound proofed or the government would purchase them at market value, residents choice. As you moved outward, people within the other rings also got free sound proofing, diminishing as you moved away from the air field. People were accustomed to and basically ok with the F-16's but the F-35's were a whole other level.

Is this valley a route for those planes or do they just appear to make a good show in the photos (which, it must be said, are excellent!)?

Is this in Kern River Valley? That is what someone answered in reply to the question " where is this? " way down below in the comments after it had been asked about five times previously with no response each time. Screw any of the f...heads for not answering if they know the answer, including Elmo.

Never been into the F-22 or F-35. Don't care for the new stealthy jets. The F-4, F-14, and the F-16 are the ones I think are hot. The F-15 is ok but not huge on the F-18, either.
