    People clearly have no understanding of what this teacher is trying to share. It’s not about the whole process, it’s all about options and/or extensions. Anyone who’s seriously trained in any martial system knows it’s all about muscle memory. It’s about not one specific set of moves it’s about options to defend against an angle or weapon.

    Exactly. Once you've internalized all the options, when in a real fight scenario, you don't think but simply react with a reflex that is any one of the trained, internalized, options.

    Love your vids and thanks for sharing. For a long time now I’ve considered Silat to be one of, if not the best form of Martial Arts. That is, a good Silat style, if you will. I’m a corrections officer at a state prison and have been training with a friend who is a former championship cage fighter but has been teaching Krav Maga. I still prefer Silat and have a qualified instructor nearby. I have a Lieutenant who has a very strong and solid background in Martial Arts. He has trained in everything under the sun, as well as having been in multiple martial art magazines and is formerly a part of an elite and specially hand selected security team with the federal government. He has trained government operatives as well as special operation forces. He says that Silat is some of the best martial arts that you can find. He’s one of few Americans who has a legit recipe for dit da jow and he won’t give it to more or sell me any jow. I would love to be able to get good quality, legit jow. Again, love your vids. The body mechanics, foot work, and actually speed are awesome! I wish that you were around here because I would trainunder you in a heartbeat!

    Don't mislead people that your a smart boy, you're not. Everybody here who know the basic summary of SSBD and he's method of teaching will understand very will this will work as long as one put dedication to the art. If not, running is not an option and never was in the first place, then you're dead regardless of what and how you train, unless you have a gun but even then, if the attacker has intent to kill won't give you a chance to draw, what's the point.

    I've never known anyone to just stab or swing and leave their knife hand out there. Mostly every knife attack I've seen is a blitz attack, with the knife wielder stabbing multiple times in short amount of time, which would render these drills useless in an actual street encounter

    @@MansMan42069 a punching bag isnt trying to stab you genius. It has a very specific use as a training tool, and that is to develop punching power. Defending against a knife attack is not even in the same ball park as developing punching power so I fail to see the comparison.

  • @michaelvendick2785

    @michaelvendick2785

    @@MansMan42069 yeah but you need to train realistically. If you think those knife defenses mimic a real world knife attack then you are in for a rude reality check. No one, not even an untrained knife wielder will just stab at you once and let you grab their knife wielding arm without a tremendous amount of resistance. They arent going to stand in one spot and let you attempt to disarm them, they will fight you every step of the way. I've pressure tested alot of these so called knife defenses and none of them work against a serious knife wielding opponent who is determined on ending your life. It's almost impossible to knock a knife out of someones hand as they will have next to a death grip on it. If think I'm full of shit then give a practice knife to someone you dont train with, someone who preferably doesn't have any training and tell them to come at you any way they want and see what happens. You're going to find that they arent going to play along because they dont know the sequence of movements and arent going to react the way you think they should. Knife defenses are serious business and should be trained realistically. A true knife defense is going to be ugly and more than likely you're going to get cut. But if you train unrealistically like shown in these defenses, you're going to get killed. If you want to use these defenses then go right ahead. But dont be surprised when they dont even come close to working in a real life attack. Shit, dont even be surprised when they dont work when pressure tested. My whole point is to train honestly and as close to realistically as possible. Lying to yourself will only get you seriously injured or killed

    Ramon Clemente Your ignorance is obvious, Ramon. SSBD is NOT a street-fight. Rather, it is tribal warfare predicated on a committed, running attack at full speed, usually with a machete. Brunei was a head hunting culture and the context here is 20-40 armed guys running into your village and being met by a force of 20-40 of your friends and family. The fact that this art has worked in this context for centuries shows how little you understand of what you’re watching. This is NOT a dueling art, Ramon. If you want to prepare for a knife fight in the street, then I recommend Sayoc Kali which, given your ignorance and lack of respect, would be equally difficult for you.
