Because the Catholic Church had quenched the Holy Spirit. Our priests, bishops and even Popes thought they knew it all and did not need the Holy Spirit.

Baptised in the spirit at a catholic charismatic prayer meeting in Birmingham, England in 1977 as a 13 year old. I’m 56 years old now and still loving the Lord.

"loving the Master/ Yahuah (pw Lord)" means keeping his Torah. Catholics cannot receive eternal life. In 1980 they had Jesus Mid-America in my city. They had speakers and bands from morning to night. It was the Charismatic Movement I went to a Charismatic church I talked to spirit filled Methodist , Baptist, Lutheran etc..all beliefs I even danced with the nuns they were playing their tambourines. I had the best time

Faith isn’t about your feelings it’s about your willingness to suffer for the sake of Christ and rise with him . This whole movement is seeking God Beyond the sacraments which he himself instituted as a means to unify ourselves with him . The baptism by the Holy Spirit is a grace by God not a sacrament , this whole movement is a new church which is completely founded upon new ideas instead of the teachings of the apostles handed down by the bishops throughout the ages . Now all of a sudden bishops proclaim new teachings never held by the church previously , it’s enough no more of this modernism . I reject the 2nd Vatican council with all my heart and soul

Catholics should read Fr. John Hardons 1971 Pentecostalism: Evaluating a Phenomenon and Fr. William Most’s Errors of Charismatics. I spent a decade in the movement but got out.

I rate Fr Hardon highly but his analysis is faulty, because he assumes like most old style theologians that the Holy Spirit cannot operate outside the norm. He was too premature in his judgement. The overwhelming fruits of the Renewal are good and not a Protestant phenomenon but a Trinitarian one.

Because of these gifts of the Spirit I was healed from 17 yrs of brain damage. Bible church or Catholic, the gifts are the gifts from God. Do not leave those ever. God is God no matter where.

Fr. William Most wrote some good articles. However, when he defended Pope Benedict XVI's "hermeneutic of continuity" as a way of reconciling Pre and Post Vatican II Church teachings, his articles pretty much came down to saying Pope Pius XII said we're going to have to learn to live with errors. That did it for me.

Praise God 🙌 He is real! if you clear of sins, earnestly ask Him to come into your heart He will and your lives will be of living for Him not this world. You need only to ask Him to teach you how to use the gifts He gives you. Alleluia

Here is food for thought Hymenaeus and Philetus still preached Christ but what they had done was create their own idea of what doctrines were correct. Paul had said that they had done this to draw men unto themselves. Paul more or less called them apostates. I am very leery of one staying in a faith that contradicts scripture. A Mormon could do the same as the charismatic Catholics are here. There is a straight and narrow road, that leads too eternal life, and few find it

It’s a bit strange to me how Catholicism is persecuting Catholics by banning the mass in order to try to cater to evangelical charismatics. Very strange indeed.

There may be some misconceptions among Catholic charismatics, but this does not change the fact that this renewed manifestation of the Spirit in the Church did facilitate an intimate relationship with Jesus that transformed many Catholics from nominal to practical Christians.

But the use of the word " baptism in the Holy Spirit " in the Charismatic Renewal Movement is clearly wrong since "there is only one faith , one Lord , and one baptism ( that we already received once when we joined the Catholic church) according to St. Paul.

If they were under the influence of the Holy Spirit they would speak of Jesus not Mary, they would flee idolatry. They would study the Word, be taught by the Teacher, the Holy Spirit and leave error behind. Same for anyone who says they have the Holy Spirit. Jesus said by their fruit you will know them, not gifts, tongues, healings, feelings of warmth, ecstasy, harmony, unity, oneness, etc... God is not ecumenical. The way is narrow not broad.

Why would god need pentecostals to give the holy spirit to Catholics? Why didn't he just give it to them? It is not like the Holly spirit is "the force" that you share. Also, where was the holy spirit during the two thousand years of the catholic church?

The Apostolic gifts Prophesy Healing Tongues ceased .. they were for the unbelievers to convert them with a supernatural sign of the Holy Spirit .. Yes we have other gifts of giving charity teach etc. But not the sacred Apostolic gifts to be that was used to show miraculous signs of sharing gospel to Jews and gentiles

I have charisma and I move therefore I have charismatic movement.

Philippe Sébastien your wrong roman catholic are not Christians. The person who started the charismatic movement was dennis j Bennet and he's a Christian not a roman catholic. Also roman catholic got some of the stuff in the Bible right, like father son and holy spirit but the word pope is not found in the Bible and also it says to not bow to graven images, all thier are is images and statues in the roman catholic church, oh and also you guys pray and worship mary! We are not to pray to no one but God alone in the name of Jesus! We definitely aren't supposed to confess our sins and ask for forgiveness from man but only God alone even when you guys say that the man is a mediator but Jesus is our mediator the only one to the father. You guys are a pagan, man made religion that is leading others to the wrong christ.

The problem most Christians have, is that they believe you have to be perfect to be baptized in the Holy Spirit; even if your doctrine is messed up, you can receive the Holy Spirit. Peter was behaving hypocritical after receiving the Spirit, Paul had to rebuke him. Peter was shocked when Gentiles received the Spirit; some of you are shocked when Catholics received the Spirit. Fortunately, none of you is God.

To be born again is to be born of the water and the Spirit through the sacrament of Baptism..

This is upsetting. The ecumenical movement is not good. Experiences can be very deceiving.

It can be upsetting because it is not familiar and what is not familiar can be very frightening, especially when it is to do with the things of God. God himself can be frightening but that is no reason to turn away from him. We must seek greater understanding through reading and prayer, through the accepted prophecies of Our Lady and others. If Jesus baptized in the Holy Spirit and Fire and told us to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, and he did, then who are we to say it is wrong? And what is the definition of ecumenical? LIke so much in the Church and the world to do it has been distorted. It simply means that the whole Body of Christ must learn to love each other across denominational lines and worship the Lord Jesus Christ together, as Lord and Savior of all, regardless of our many forms of worship and dogma. It is the first commandment to love God first before everything else, then ourselves and each other through that love. Be blessed as you seek, dear friend. Love overcomes all fear!

Please do not deceive yourselves. Catholic or charismatic Catholics, you can never be of Christ and God the Father in heaven if you are bowing down and praying to your man made idols in open rebellion to God's 2nd Commandment found in Exodus 20, verses 4 - 6. The only weapon against self deception is always the adherence to and the reverence of the teachings of God's divine and infallible word, the Bible.
