Dating myself here but I grew up watching the original Crumpy, Jason's dad Phil here in Australia back in the late 70's and through the 80's.

Been watching the Diamonds for years its amazing!

I used to do a bit of speedway when I was younger. Never had a go on one of the big 500cc bikes but had lots of fun on a 250 at Eastbourne. Still very quick though, most fun I've ever had on 2 wheels and what a noise!!!

Man You don't even know that exist something like long track speedway, where track are even 1000 m long.

I can remember old time Aussie speedway rider, Chum Taylor, giving his assessment of the people who go racing speedway on or in anything other than a motorcycle. He said, "If you're really brave, you go racing on two wheels. If you're not so brave. you do it on three wheels and if you've got no guts at all, you do it on four wheels." Chum wasn't one to mince his words - he just told it as it is!

Wow - that car looks like fun (maybe on some more rugged off road?) but I think I'd still prefer to give the speedway bike a go!

I know Tiff is a good driver but I feel if it was Frankie Wainman driving the F1 it could have been closer.

Should of done this at Foxhall Stadium at Ipswich have a speedway rider on the shale and have someone going round on the fast tarmac that goes around it

And King's Lynn, and the time you posted that, Swindon. Actually the new Swindon track will still be bigger I think. As is the new Belle Vue track which is the longest in the top British league now. Berwick is the longest in the country I think, I've been there, didn't notice at the time that it was particularly long but apparently it is.

Oh and as a kid I once played a bit of football on the centre green with some other kids at the Isle of Wight. We were on holiday there, and there wasn't a meeting on that week, but they were showing the Grand Prix in the bar, so we went along.

should have done it on a fast track like lynn or sheffield

Yeah at lynn where they also do F1 stock cars and it would have been even as it isn't crumps home track

Jeeks Aussie has some hot riders right now, Crump, Holder, Ward and Watt, is it any wonder Pool won! As for the show above I'd like to think Tiff would have a little more respect for speedway now, but somehow I doubt it.

people always put speedway down but it one of the fasted and deadlest sports and the riders aren't getting as much as football players

I used to go speedway here and America what skill they ride I would the cold evenings when you would smell that engine fuild there nothing like 🏍️

on speedway track nothink would beat speedway bike why tracks in england are so short???

A 500cc bike does out accelerate a formula one car with ease.. The speedway bike will go from 0 120 km/h in under 2 seconds, on dirt

Yeah I don't understand why stock cars are basically keeping many speedway tracks alive because of the money they bring in. Why do they make more money then speedway? I guess it's more popular, but why? Makes no sense to me.

Fast cars are manufactured by more electrical parts and technology in formula 1 racing, but Speedway bikes engines cost more than a mini, the tyres are used up after a few races and the riders are small & very strong shoulders to control the weight of the front of the bike

Midgets, as raced in the USA, Australia & NZ , are purpose built for racing on dirt ovals. 1/4 mile ovals can be knocked off in 13 seconds. They are purpose built just as the bikes are with fixed gearing.(Only changeable in the pits), run methanol, just as the bikes do, run fuel injected 2.6 litre specially built for purpose engines just as the bikes are. This is on dirt. And the bike only just reaches 70 .. so it does out accelerate it for a tiny bit.

Went there once as a kid, when we went on holiday to Devon. I think it was 1996, the one year that King's Lynn (our team) didn't run and the two top leagues were merged into one. My favourite rider Mark Loram was riding for Exeter that year so that was an added bonus, I believe the opposing side was Edinburgh. It was an awesome track, shame it closed.

Do it on tarmac and give it frankie see what happens that full contact with the bike lol

a sprint car is more likely to beat him than the rally car.

it's a fact dude.. i race it myself.. lol got it tested you know..

Speedway bikes out accelerate a F1 car so i doubt they can be beaten by anything with 4 wheels

Incorrect, Have a look at what a midget(as raced in USA, austral, and New Zealand ) will do. 1 to 2 seconds quicker per lap on a 1/4 mile.

but that track is 255 mtrs very short, would have been more interesting at the old Cov, leicester or old Belle View.

No they don't... I grew up around speedway bikes, and I know a sprintcar would eat them alive. A sprintcar would be much too powerful for a little UK track though.

Everyone always hated Eastbourne. I hate to see top clubs die but... good riddance. What a stupid track.

Shame Crumpie won't be around much next season, but it's also a shame that this was put on the show that ends with "Gear" that no one watches.

WTF is the go with the wing. Also go on a larde track against a sprintcar. Crumpy would be flogged

haha actually he is a hell of a driver, not many could jump into any race car and bang it out like he does. OK the proper drivers of each formula would be quicker but he is pretty damn good

"perfect for racing bikes like this" lolno the old Belle Vue track was utter garbage.

Probably because it was a garbage track The new track is great though. Probably the best in the country. Clearly influenced by Polish tracks, but that's a good thing.
