In other words, it would be way more benefiting to the ones who think these social media ceos are doing something shady to in fact give them fair censorship to shut down people like the president abusing their platform to lie to people. It’s one thing when it’s just political spin, but when it comes to medical science and people’s lives have been lost due to bad information from social media, any rational person can completely understand how stupid these trials and questioning circuses are. They’re trying to discredit a platform that’s not the issue. It’s the ones who use it that cause the issues...like trump especially

I mean seriously he's under oath, so if the Senator asked him "how many times have you censored X people" and he actually had the numbers and said " Oh that is 10 Billion times Mr Senator", but then as he's saying it, the 10 Billionth and 1 censor went through and now he just lied to a Senator while also under oath (technically two separate crimes). That said we need to stop them, seriously they crossed the line a long time ago and now the camel's back isn't just broken, but he's been fully bisected!

People are dying in this country of a condition that could have been fixed with congressional help that was ignored for far too long, people are going hungry, children go to bed without supper, parents can’t afford to help their families, small businesses are going under, there are elderly people who live without teeth or glasses because medicare says that is a luxury, big businesses are reaping huge benefits while their employees have to work 2 or 3 jobs just to get a mediocre roof over their family’s head, pharmaceutical and insurance companies are gouging the poor just so they can get out of bed every morning, and hundreds of thousands of soldiers are in countries all over the world when they could be home learning new skills to help with the corona virus.....and this is the abysmal way our Congress is spending the taxpayers money that was designed to help our way of life? I’m appalled and embarrassed to be an American!!!!

Well the problem with that is you'd basically have to turn social media platforms into Utilities, like they did with the phone companies. That way they would be subject to government oversight and scrutiny at a moments notice, which would hobble their ability to conduct business as it currently stands...what with all the likely illegal data mining going on on their platforms. In any case turning them into a utility would cause a lot of other problems that are too detailed to go into here. They need to be broken up and turned into a proper platform or alternatively turned into a publisher. Either way, the sun is setting on unchecked social media giants and I couldn't be happier.

@@SpecialistBR If that was the only factor then I might agree with you. However there are suppressive business practices at play here. Essentially the same business practices that caused Microsoft to be broken up. Namely that they FORCE phones to have FB and GMail and other software installed into the phone and make it so you CANNOT uninstall them. Meanwhile, the app is also spying on your activities in other apps even if you NEVER USE FB ON YOUR PHONE. This isn't tinfoil hat it's real and there is an active bipartisan lawsuit by Congress against Google that is making it's way through the courts right now!. This is not merely an organic monopoly, they have actively suppressed other platforms through their predatory and illegal business practices. Since Microsoft set the precedent on this for digital media, they're almost certainly going to lose in court because it is almost identical to what they used to do with the Windows suppressing Netscape by making everything use IE by default.

If Congress would FORCE companies the make these User Agreements SHORT, SIMPLE and UnAMBIGUOUS and so that EVERYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT They are asked to give up - MAYBE INTELLIGENT people wouldn't be so QUICK to give up their PERSONAL DATA. Additionally - CONGRESS Should create a LAW that ALLOWS Individuals to OWN THEIR PERSONAL DATA and HAVE ABSOLUTE RIGHTS TO ANY AND ALL PERSONAL DATA OBTAINED ON THEM and to be allowed to SUE COMPANIES WHO REFUSE TO DESTROY ANY DATA WHEN ASKED TO DO SO.
