I've heard people asking "who's playing keyboards on that?" The answer is nobody. It's the second guitarist playing e-bow with a slow-wave reverb: Layering. Fucking mind-blowing stuff.

So ein Glück muss man erstmal haben, in dieser Zeit zu leben und das live zu sehen.

This is incredible. Why aren't THESE guys the top iconic goth band? I know they're up there, but Sisters and Bauhaus get so much more glory, and neither is even working anymore. Meanwhile, Fields is burning it up.

To Akicita ad Dio, the single Psychonaut by the Fields of the Nephilim was superb !!!!! I rate it above This Corrosion. Psychonaut is a complex rock song that tells the story of the Book of Enoch. This Corrosion great "pop drivel" that is best suited to a nightclub. As far as bands go .... the Fields of the Nephilim were a great band. Bauhaus and the Sisters of Mercy received more press coverage and had "the image." Unfortunately, the Nephilim rose to the top as goth was "dying" .... pun intended. The Sisters had completely sold out and had become Eldritch and Co, - let is NOT forget the Patricia Morrison debacle - AND most other goth bands were fading out e.g. The Mission. The musical landscape has dramatically changed through the likes of Nirvana and with MINISTRY, Nine Inch Nails and White/Rob Zombie.

Akicita A. Its a matter of personal preference. I began listening to both bands (brands) at the same time in 1991 and already then I had the feeling I had missed something cause thay were so influential to my existence after that, like opening up a secret cave. I still cant decid which band is the "best". They are so different. The Nephilim is much better live, thats my impression after seeing both. Im happy to have tickets to Sisters in August.

Sisters arent even an official goth band.

I remember buying the 7 inch single of this from Woolies back in the day.God,how time flies..

I am german, born '72. I've been listening to FOTN since '89. After all these years I can say no music I ever listened to has influenced me more than the Fields. Elizium is THE masterpiece of goth, timeless, hypnotic. And for Psychonaut - I'm also playing bass and have always been impressed by Tony Pettitt playing this bassline.

I've been on two of thier gigs and yes, both of them were really close to some kind of spiritual experience. Suprisingly I was stone cold sober on both times too.

They are iconic - Psychonaut is one of their best!

Wow.. that was arguably better than the studio vervain. Carls vocals have really developed and blossomed in complexity.

First heard of them in 1991. Been a fan ever since. Still amazing as they were then. Carl McCoy is a goddamn genius.

This is a genre of music I did not even know existed back in the eighties. I had never heard of this band. I missed a great deal didnt I? Must have been brain damage from all the head banging.

Simply awesome, great band, ,having seen them live a few times with the wife I can honestly say they are epic, this song probably my favourite song of all time,

The only reason most goths don't get FotN is that they haven't watched the spaghetti westerns from which the Fields get their look.

Carl is gorgeous....

I was there ! I remember the fan club meeting beforehand, when the Witherspoon staff was kind enough to reserve us the back room, the jokes, the folks from all over Europe, the camaraderie… Bollocks is it really more than ten years ?
