FiddlersGreen.net Clear Canopies Tutorial
Paper and cardmodel Airplanes look so much nicer with clear canopies and Uncle Bob Martin takes us through the process step by step. In this case we're building the Mig-3 from www.Fiddlersgreen.net. This is a much higher quality video. Enjoy!

Genius!!!! Just made my stress of trying to figure how to make paper models more realistic go away lol.
Thank you so much 😊 all of my models just have the colored canopy now I know how to make it more realistic. Thank you
Awesome instructions, this works for RC planes as well, without the heat gun, vacuum form, etc. Thanks!!!

You're welcome. Some of our planes at www.Fiddlersgreen.net are aerodynamic enough to fly.
Very good video! Thank you for sharing the idea.

What a great video! I'm just starting down the road of card modeling and your video has cleared up a lot of questions I had. Much thanks and looking forward to any of your videos. Well made too.
This is the best modelling tip video I have ever seen! Kudos!
Man!!! I fought a lot with transparency that is hard to work and gets very dirty when glued! You're genius!!!!

There is also another method that Bob Lutz is working on using a vacuum and heat formed plastic. It is great for the more curved shapes on a clear canopy for a paper model.
Thank you so much . Now I will give my ojimak hal LCA tejas a real look . Thank you so much again . Have a wonderful life 😊
HI chipfyn1, Thanks for sharing this technique / process... Good idea !!!
beautiful
I wondered that too,but as I watched when he cut the tabs out on the 1st layer of tape it left gaps.then when he taped the back the cut gaps where now sticky. Smart.
Maravilhosa!! sua dica!!!
Hi i love your model they look great i have made a few using your ideas including a b-52, b-17,and tbf avenger!
Useful video. Thanks.
Great video!! So simple!! (all the best ideas are!!) Thanx for this!!
You know, these folks were dealing with here like to build static paper models, but a fair amount has opened their eyes into incorporating micro r/c and stufff into these small paper models and may also apply a small amount of depron foam. I don`t think it`s "all that" but it is modelling, and i like modelling. Both plastic and r/c. I`m even contemplating doing a few of these fiddling paper models. fourmost the Caproni Stipa "flying barrel" as these odd birds are somewhat amusing to me ;-)
thank you VERY much for making this video!
great tut, thx for sharing.
Brilliant! Thanks for this
thanks Uncle Bob!

I've watch this a few months back and it is a really good technique despite I'm using cardstock (160 GSM) but it made my sopwith camel model luminated though, thanks btw.

Nope, it's not abandoned. It gets updated every Saturday with 7 free models for everyone who has an active Magic Keys subscription. WHy do you say it looks like it's abandoned?

@@chipfyn1 Sure did. I'll be exploring Monday morning before me and my handicapped son go out for yard work. He loves to watch me work-maybe because I play Beach Boys and CCR while I work. Its time to share some creations with my grandkids.
When you buy a template from the website does it give you instructions on how to make it?
@chipfyn1
3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Most of the models come with an instruction sheet, which is a basic diagram of how the parts fit together. It helps to have a picture of how the paper model is supposed to look when it's done. A lot of the building models had that printed on the back of the postcard before the internet was around.

hmm not bad, but i think sticking a ciggaret packing foil only from inside looks better
@chipfyn1

What if you did both? You could have the clear packing tape canopy on the outside and the tin foil on the inside. Sounds interesting.
