    It's winter here in South Africa, I have a small Natal Ficus, in a humidity dome with a heat mat and a grow light. Got its 1st aerial roots in 2years. Keep up with great work and happy early Bday 🎉

    Happy early birthday Nigel! Thank you for sharing this experience I think you really reach your goal to make these thicker roots divide! Can't wait to see this tree in a year or two! I will definitely try this on my ficus to avoid aerial roots getting out of proportion. Thanks for all that knowledge I'm learning so much in each video. From Montreal merci beaucoup!!

    One thing I'm curious about with this experiment. I wonder if aerial roots are different and have different growth patterns then roots in the soil. I'm wondering if your experiment predicted soil roots and not aerial roots and maybe they'll dry out and not continue growing after the soil is removed? I'm not sure please keep us updated 😁

    Nigel addressed this in the video. He said if you plant the tip of the root it will stay alive but harden and grow bark.

    That was a pretty stinking slick reveal, good sir. The “hairy” roots looked in scale if this were a humongous tree. Also, how ironic would it be for you to wire the roots for placement? 😉hehe

    Ariel roots can be trained with plastic straw,you can arrange the roots anyway you like

    My immediate thought on seeing all those roots is that you could have moulded them into buttress or even ribbon roots
