Thanks Phil - I used to do all my servicing on my old bangers 20 years ago, but I lost confidence with my (much) newer cars. I love my Panda Cross to bits, so I'm enjoying your videos and servicing myself. More Panda videos please :)

Hi, Phils Panda, it is an excellent illustration move and 100% very useful for my FIAT Panda Twin Air Turbo. Very keen on watching the movie as well for replacing the Oil Filter, many thanks !

Dobry tutorial.

I had to smile when I realised you had forgotten to lock the clip down on the air intake hose, then the look on your face when you realised you had missed that part. :-D

Tks Phil, this is very clear. I couldn't find the same video in French. Good job ! Perhaps you should recommand the use of a dynamometric key for the tightening the spark plugs.

Might have been said before but you should put a smear of oil on the plug's thread so it won't bind in future... and also if you have some feeler gauges worth checking the spark gap :-) Finally finger tight, when screwing in new plugs, and then one quarter turn to finish it... any more and you can stuff the thread. Cheers and nice job... good little car!

"The coil pack is made out of rubber so you can't really go wrong" -- what can happen is the rubber can split when you try to pull out the coil pack. I dealt with this by using a piece of coat hanger wire with a small right-angled hook at the end to remove the coil pack by pulling it up from the bottom. It takes a bit of patience, but even when the rubber is split the coil pack still works.

I've a suggestion: type on Google "NGK Tightening Torque". You can find a small table with correct tightening torque for spark plug that It have to thread on alluminium alloy and cast iron engine head. Moreover i suggest for now to buy a torque wrench with torque between 20 - 100 Nm. Thank you, I never saw the TwinAir Engine, but only Multiair engine

I hope you dont mind me asking but I need an educated opinion on which Panda to buy. 4x4 ideally as living in French Pyrenees but FWD with all season/winters on would be an option if the engine was right. Can you help?

I put copper ease on the plug threads to prevent any issues on removing them in the future, did mine up till resistance was felt then a quarter turn on my 500 abarth, there is no slack on the coil pack leads on my car so really hard to unplug them, made it slightly easier to unbolt to loosen all the coil pack together for slight movement.

  • @MrPabsUk

You did them up too tight. Plugs with washers should be done up till it nips up, then another 90 degrees, you did them about 300 more degrees. They`ll be incredibly tight when you go to take them out next time, & you will knacker the threads in the head over time. Also, when you put them in, turn them anticlockwise till you feel the plug `drop` into the thread on the head, then do them up by hand, that way you`ll never cross thread them. Its also good precaution to check the gap on new plugs, they are sometimes off.

I battered my chrysler ypsillon through a massive puddle and i assume water has got into the air intake. I cant find videos on ypsillon. Is the panda twinair engine much the same? If i take the plugs out and crank it then out it bk together will that be a good start? CN an amature do it? Will the spark plug tool be the same size?
