Thank you. I think it makes a good little film. Ladislav puts a lot of effort into all of the films ! Now I can do the stuff in front of the camera but everything else is Ladislav. So without him there wouldn’t be any film !

Absolutely fascinating. And not easy to film I can imagine. Great work!

Glad you like it. Well yes the camera doesn’t like to focus on the paint and it doesn’t really do it justice just how deep the dent is. But I think it made a good film.

Dear Gear Head, there are many challenges filming in a real workshop and not in a studio made to be a workshop as you can imagine. We are filming with very wide lens at 20mm to be able to fit everything in to the frame and during editing to keep in as much information and footage as possible without loosing your interest. I am glad you like the videos and regularly comment on them.

This is again awesome and keeps me being fascinated. And it shows what finger tips are good for :). I think it needs years and years of experience to sort out where to hit and bend metal exactly at the right spot so that it follows the intended direction. I am reserving already my next life to learn more about it.

Thank you. The theory is that you reverse the dent out and then shrink down the stretched metal. Well that’s the theory ! In practice it’s a bit more complex that is why I started with the wood pushing out the damaged from the swage line before pushing the centre. If I had started with the centre I would risked stretching it and then having to shrink down the whole thing. Which would have been near impossible. I’m no master there are far more talented people than me but every time I work with the metal I try to get closer to their level.

When it comes to low spots, what would be your tolerance to filling with filler? Great job as always!

The lows aren’t really the problem it’s the high spots that are going to need shrinking. If you can imagine it’s like a hill and you wouldn’t want to raze the surrounding plane up to the level of the top of the mountain you would be better off flattening that mountain. If you see what I mean. It’s about getting the metal finishing as good as you can then it’s whatever it takes to smooth it out before paint. The less filler required the better but it isn’t always easy. Ferrari would not use any filler on the race cars to save weight. If you get a chance to look at the latest shark nose recreation you will see that this is how they have been done and all the better for it . But on a road car you will be going for something like polished glass. A stamped panel from factory wood require very little finishing but some coach built stuff more so depending on the manufacturer.
