FHO Racing Crew Chief to Josh Brookes... it's MARK WOODAGE!

Спорт

This week we’re joined by Crew Chief to Josh Brookes at FHO Racing, Mark Woodage. It was a rollercoaster season in 2023, early season wins in BSB didn’t translate to the championship challenge that rider or crew chief had hoped, while a return to road racing saw the NW200 curtailed before a return to the glorious Isle of Man TT races, the season rounded out with Josh making his Macau debut with Brains by his side. Both rider and crew chief continue again in 2024 and they’re ready for the challenge!

Good hearing from Mark it's really interesting with the BMW it's obviously one hell of a bike and they must have put so much effort into bringing their bike on both in worlds and in BSB . Josh is one of the best riders on track in the UK right now it would be just great to see him at the sharp end winning races again . Having seen the highlights of the worlds at Philip island Toprack had a pretty good first ride out , the other tracks might be different but maybe sign of things to come for BMW across the board since Leon's bike was pretty good last year .I have to say I would love to see Danny Kent win this year for many reasons really just think he deserves it as do so many of the guys . Awesome from Mark Superb job Dave as ever .👌👍

Thanks so much, CM! Yeah you just can’t buy Josh’s experience, and I’m same, I’d love to see him up the sharp end for a full season ✊🏼

Started listening in the background at work, an hour later I've watched the whole episode and now an hour behind at work. Whoops. Love it when they talk open and honestly, no media training talk or contractual statements.

It’s a definitely a line we’re following because the responses have been fabulous- todays riders are all grand lads and lasses but they don’t have the stories the old guard and the technical staff have 🙏🏼 So glad you enjoyed the show and apologies for the distraction 😁

"Just point it at the wall and change up into 6th and pin it and you can drift it all the way along" AAAAAAARRGH! I can see why Josh would question doing that, especially at the TT! 😳😮😱

The bike just seemed to be awful for BSB following the TT, really strange. Really like the FHO team, would like to see them win more this season

The BMW is such an unusual bike, especially how its engine works with the high lift cams - it’s very difficult to get the engine to work well with the BSB MoTec electronics especially as it makes so much power. Hopefully there’ll be progress this year ahead of the new bike in ‘25

@@OffTrack_Podcast I did read somewhere that it’s Bosch who cause a lot of the issues as they won’t release certain files, don’t know how true that is. I get the feeling that once BMW crack it then they will run riot because clearly it’s one of the best bikes on the grid, narrowly beaten by the Ducati maybe but they’re clearly keen to succeed with the amount of money they’re throwing at riders and a full test team! Would love to see Toprak get a few wins at WSBK, and Scott obviously. Wish Josh the best aswell, I really like him and would love to see him up there fighting aswell.

@NickyLong89 Sounds plausible, the BMW hasn’t worked well as well as teams would hope in BSB because of the MoTec/Bosch issues. The ‘25 bike will be a different proposition with the Smith/Guintoli combination, Sylvain particularly so. The power of the bike isn’t an issue, it’s got plenty, it’s getting the best from it while refining the chassis. Yeah, Josh is class, no question at all and it’d be great to see him challenge all season if possible.
