FG Fishing Knot Tying Tool - Knot Assist 2.0 (Tie Braid to Leader Fast!) [4K]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I'll show you how you can tie braid to leader fast with Knot Assist 2.0 (FG Fishing Knot Tying Tool).
Knot Assist 2.0 for FG Knot Braided Line to Leader Connection: amzn.to/3ey5U8O
PISCIFUN Waterproof Cover Fishing Tackle Backpack With 4 Trays: shrsl.com/40a2z
Camera Used To Make The Video: GoPro HERO9 Black - amzn.to/2YmPBTA

You can also find lots of valuable information related to different fish species at: www.fishmadpro.com/
In my videos I test different fishing gadgets that are available on the market (Amazon and not only) so that you could decide for yourself if you actually need one or not. The majority of them do not have the instruction on how to use them and it can be very frustrating when you don't know how to use the tool you've just purchased or are planning to buy...

The most important step in tying the FG knot was left out. Never fish the knot the way it was tied in this video. You need to tension the knot after 2 half hitches. Then you can finish it off more half hitches or a uni.

I like the concept- it keeps things more compact during the tying process vs using your rod length and wrapping around your fingers or using your teeth for braid tension. It controls the line from inadvertently getting tangled or the wind affecting the tag ends, etc.

You don't need tools at all for FG knot, just run the braided line through your rod than wrap the braided line a few times around your pinky finger, pull the line with your finger for tension and wrap the leader line around the braided line. Make sure the last wrap of the leader line is pointing toward your rod so that you can make the half hitch knots.

You're right you don't need tools. Takes me less than a minute. If you tie it a lot you get faster. Double about 10 in of line you wrap it around your pinkie insert your index finger and thumb inside the loop forming a tight circle. That makes you r tight intersection of braid. 20 wraps then a quick 2 halfs then finish w renzetti. I've been lucky growing up as fly tyer so my fingers work well. Lots of whip finishing on flys never used a tool.

An easy way I tie this without a tool is I wrap the braid 4-5 times around my left pinky, set the mono behind my neck and wrap it around my left pointer finger while keeping tension which leaves me full maneuverability to wrap the line around the braid with my right hand if you do exactly that it's very fast and efficient.

In all the research and viewings I've seen on the FG knot I've never seen the tag of the leader line used to make the locking knot (1st half-hitch). I don't know what that means for knot integrity; just an observation.

  • @pfconrey

    @pfconrey

    Жыл бұрын

That step actually defeats the whole purpose of the FG knot, which uses the same physics as a Chinese finger trap to hold the leader in place. If you add the half hitch, you are adding bend in the leader, the lack of which is the advantage of the FG in the first place. A that point, you may as well just use a double uni, which while slightly thicker, is far easier to tie.

No disrespect! But this video got me thinking... Me and my father used to go fishing using "soup cans" and we tied our hooks the exact same way we tied our "shoe laces". Never had a single problem and we always had a successful fishing trip time and time again! Looking at all these new gadgets today, makes me think "why do we make it complicated?" No need man! Sincerely no need! Grab an old fashion ZEBCO reel if you want and have a blast! Make a fishing device using a "soup can" and have a blast, it is really that simple! Is all love man! Enjoy being outside, enjoy the water, enjoy the company, make new memories!

@@fishmadpro7210 Try catching a 40lb Grouper or high speed trolling for Wahoo with a soup can. Simple is not always better for all types of fishing. I agree you can go simple, I see people fishing with Cuban YoYo's here in South Florida and they do great with simple setups to catch smaller fish like Mangrove Snapper, etc. You need high tech knots and heavy duty equipment for certain types of fishing. I use this knot specifically to attach braid to mono which is a great way to have a shock leader or wind on leader that passes through your rod tip and eyelets without damaging the rod. 80lb braid to 100 pound mono with this knot is incredibly strong.

the problem with this knotter is that there;s not enough room for longer FG knots required for fishing badass fishes like amberjacks, big bonitos/ albacores and of course deep blacks like groupers. For these trophies the length of the FG knot has to be at least something like 4cm, impossible with the knotter. Another alternative is to make a custom knotter, using 2x sushi sticks mounted on a flat wooden surface, glued on it, distance 35cm, on top of them glue corks, cut in the mid section of the corks a trough for line/leader and do same procedure like in this video. The FGs will be longer.

Absolute BS! Also fg knot is the hardest and idiotic knot ever! Definitely not worth it to try and tie with fg knot!

You've got to be kidding. With a little practice you can tie an FG better and faster with your hands. Waste of time and money...

I'm showing the gadgets that exist, and it's a personal choice of each one whether to buy or not to buy... Many people have issues with hands or fingers, and for those, this gadget might be very useful...
