A few points. First off, you do not meet his traveling companions in the game, so not Urianger. Next the plates they're holding are leve plates, which was supposed to be a main source of xp in 1.0. Finally, the vision is an early take on the "echo".

They still are just not for combat jobs. Leves are amazing for leveling crafters and gatherers from 1-100.

@@Nyxesgaming Leve challenge is also still a nice little chunk of XP when levelling jobs, just nab five quickly from Ishgard and have fun...

you should checkout a video called "i enslaved my ff14 guild" by pint or maybe "10,000 hours of black mage"

I was one of the players who got sucked in by this trailer. I will say, as bad as 1.0 was, and it was *BAD*, there was a certain charm to it that is difficult to explain. That charm was what kept me playing.

I played 1.0 at launch. It was thrilling, at first, but there were certainly things that took all appeal away. Spell-lock (unable to move while casting until the effect went off), latency between your hotbar and effect (click, wait 2 or 3 seconds before ability activates), etc. Visually it was fantastic. The worst thing, for me, at least, was having different wards for your retainer to sell your things, with absolutely no way to search for what you need. Literally had to go into a ward and browse people's retainers and hope you find what you're looking for. Complete crap shoot. To SE's credit, they never charged me a subscription fee before taking the servers down to revamp the game.
