This is an underappreciated topic. Sometimes when I see some of my friend's inventories, I almost have a heart attack. Can you believe, sometimes they get gear drops, and they forget about them and don't find them for days, because their inventory is such a mess? That is the definition of insanity.

I trade my extra gear in for seals to fuel my crippling cinnamon habit.

Hahaha, this comes right after I make a post in my world group about how my inventory is full. Will watch and do! haha EDIT: OMG THERE'S A COMPARE PRICES! MOTHER OF QOL!

This was that extra push I needed to get rid of my old gear. It hurts but it's a necessary evil. Thanks 👍

I'm the type of person who saves everything. I would finish past Final Fantasy games with 62 Elicits cause I was saving them.

A couple of good tips not strictly related to inventory management here: Define your minimum price of selling things when your start running out of sale slots. Stretching: How much is that inventory slot worth to you. Always a nice tip. Took me way too long to get rid of those bat wings. Desynthesis menu. Thank you! Either didn't know or forgot it existed. A couple of things that I think could be in this video: How to change the size of your inventory: normal, extended or full and the fact that you can change the sort order of that inventory. I both should be in character config > items

Yeah, anything that marketboards for 1 gil is only worth keeping if you're actively crafting with it. I vender most of that stuff, my wife just discards it.

Yes especially this. My minimum is 500g (unless I have a large quantity) anything lower is not really worth the effort so I just pawn it.

Interesting idea for next time!

One thing I wanted to point out, if you finish the Doman reconstruction you get 100% bonus. So those Allaghan bags are double. I get a little over 40 from retainer ventures so I can turn it in and get twice as much gil. I have taken to actually selling them in stacks of 40 for 900 each for those that know. They can still make more than buying it and I get like 90% of what Doma would give.

one thing that helps me keep my inventory clean is when gathering mats, only gather them in multiples of how many you need for a craft. so for most ores, i make sure that the amount i end up with is a multiple of 4 so i don't end up having some left over lingering in my inventory.

Desynth fish is complicated. I was stuck on Stormblood level of desynth because it's hard to get the intermediate fish to level me up enough to Shadowbringers. What I ended up doing was to get the Usugi Octopus several times (highest ilevel fish that the retainer could fish at Lv 70), desynthed it hundreds of times until I could get a small chance of desynthing Sand Egg (lowest ilevel fish that the retainer could fish at Lv 71) and then I spammed desynth on that to level up. It kinda worked and I can desynth iLv 415 now. Tinker's Calm is a medicine that increases the percentage of success for desynth so it helped a lot too.

One of my biggest issues is knowing what to keep and what to discard or sell. I have two retainers full of equipment and weapons while I have four more retainers looking after my crafting materials. I know what to do now but I've put off taking a day to sort it

as a person who has played since ARR i totally needed this content i have recently just started getting rid of things and my god its hard lmaoooo

Ok, I have like 3 and a half retainers full of gear I threw out all gear under 70 and some 60. but it still fills these retainers. and I only have white mage to 80, machinist 64, monk 51, do I need to hold this gear or just sell it?. I also have one retainer almost full of crafting stuff I have obtained one way or another,As of right now I have 41 miner, 15 weaver,15, fisher, 15 blacksmith, and will be doing leather as well being the main ones I will focus on for some time.Should i just get rid of the all the crafting stuff in the retainer? and the level 70 gear? that is taking up so much space for multiple classes?

God, I know I need to do it but I really don't wanna lol. But....I'm up to 6 full retainers and a full bag and inventory and having to shuffle stuff from my Armory chest into inventory after throwing stuff on the ground just to change jobs XD

Maybe just do one type of item or one retainer and then do another in a few days or same day each week

I just cleaned up my inventory to, I find its faster on the app to move things around.

Too bad they basically charge you real-world money per click/tap in the mobile app. It's a complete scam, don't pay for it. Just do your cleanup in-game.

Omg this reminds me of “The Price is Right”, where there is always that other contestant who bids a dollar lower which reminds me,I’m going to lower the price on my Jute seeds 😊

Me personally, I just recently sold allot of green gearand none essential regular items because I feel a little cluttered. Also I finally created an FC of me own, so far I only have 2 other members and 3 alts(I will use those ladies to do some FC related tasks on the side). Im very busy as a result because I have a big game of catch up in me MSQ, but I will make some good money along the way to contribut to me FC, The Vermillion Wanderers. I have come out of retiremdnt as Dragoon to better represent the FC, however... the FC house is the problem as I would prefer to keep it close to home(Limsa Lominsa), but hey, the longer it takes to buy, the more gil I'll have for it. Is Ishgard open to FC housing? I would imaging the houses are sll bought up if so!!!

I'm new to game as a blm. But I love crafting and gathering so am omni crafting/gathering and simultaneously levelling them all up equally sitting at around 25 now. I have no idea what materials to keep or sell or vendor sell? Or how to work out what I need for each craft to level my jobs. It's so confusing and my bags are full. I try to sell back to vendor whatever I can buy from then directly as and when I needed, but botany and mob drops really fills my bags. Do you have advice?

If your not using your retainers you get 2 of them. You can store a lot of items there. You also have your chocobo Sattlebag to store some times. As to what to keep and what to vender, or sell on the martlet, that’s a tough call because it could vary by level range

I don't like piling up mats to level crafting. What I do instead is beast tribes because they provide the mats. If I want to do a GC turn-in or craft, I buy the mats or go out and farm it, and I sell anything left over. It would be different if I were just leveling crafters and nothing else, but because I level them while doing other things I found saving mats in inventory wasn't practical for me. At max level it might be different.

I don't know what to do with my Eureka stuff. :(

lol, having 10 retainer and all full, also my chocobo bag and my FC chest, i need like 2 weeks to clean 2 retainer completly (selling items) and I need like 1 week filling them again. xD

Honestly the biggest is that is the job with the least need to move to generate wealth. I can watch a. Movie while fishing and never have to steer. Beyond that it’s comparable to the other gatherers. It’s easier to level imo but that’s not a reason to get into a job since once you have it leveled that perk isn’t noticeable long term as you forget what that was like.

I like fishing, but the other gatherers are easier for me because the items sell faster. Fish sell for high prices on my server, but they don't sell fast. A stack of ore moves much faster for me.

Right click on an item and hit sort.

Can you manage without buying any extra retainers? I don’t wanna have to pay more :p

x'D imagine having 1 main char, 1 alt char. both have double chocobo saddlebag and 10 retainers. If i didn't had a half decent system... i'd be lost x'D for my Alt, since i'm focusing on repeated crafts with him, i have 7 retainer on him just for the mats for the items, that i'm crafting and selling. I precraft and store them in the retainer inventory, to not have to craft everyday. Meaning, i have only 3 retainers for other stuff. Like all other materials, glams and stuff, that i can't label xD so 1 retainer for botanist, 1 retainer for miner items. 1 retainer for everything else and chocobo saddlebag for the important stuff (Materia, etc) for my alt char. For my main, it gets more... complicated and disorganized xD y.y I have to reorganize one day. but just to lazy atm. So i just have rough topics for the retainers. Old mats (BTN/MIN) on one retainer, new mats (BTN/MIN) on another retainer. Already crafted mats are in old and new crafted mats on 2 retainers too and 1 retainer for drop mats. The rest is just... sort of unsorted xD

My way of staying clean is I don’t keep any crafting item at all. If I need any thing, I hunt them fresh, craft fresh and use them all up. If there are any non-rare crafting item, I sell them all. But I am quite different from many players- I just want to kill monsters not to get everything.

Has anyone ever found themselves not buying Mog station sets because you know you have no room to store it?

I have no idea what to keep and sell in this game.. My character inventory is already full lol

What I have done so far in game: - Done all MSQs. - Cleaned all sidequests and unlock quests in all the maps in ARR to Shadowbringers. - Can fly in all maps - Completed all beast tribes - Squadron all max level - All crafters and gatherers at level 80, all with latest gears - Lots of mounts including tank mounts (too many mounts to mention) - Farmed all extreme primal mounts (Ponies, Birds and Doggos) - Have the fate mounts (Frog mount and Ixion) - Have the frog suit (lol) - Has 99 totems each from Titania EX and Innocence EX - 60 million gil - 7.3 million MGP (Already got all the rewards and all the mounts) - Has a beachfront property in Mist - Chocobo at max rank - Has a tank, healer and dps at 80 (I main tank) - 4250 ventures - Maxed out all custom deliveries (Zhloe, M'naago, Kurenai, Adkiragh) including all cyrstarium deliveries - Max doman enclave - 1400 commendations - Mentor Status What I'm missing: - Savage raids (I don't do savage cuz it's cancer, so I don't bother) - Ultimate (uhhh duhhhh) - PVP (Never tried it cuz I heard it's trash) - Eureka (Grind and borefest, I just bought the mounts in the MB) - Anima weapons or whatever (I'm not into shiny weapons and mindless grinding) - Diadem (wtf is that lol) On-going: - Leveling other jobs to 80 Hmmmmm.. what else am I missing out on? Except of course those I listed that I'm intentionally avoiding.

Just made my head spin. Wish this management was even slightly more intuitive or usable. All this vid did was stress me the hell out thatb every single solitary type of item is going to take HOURS of careful research to slowly sort out. I think I'll just say to heck with it and vendor everything as needed.

Which is what you should do. I mean, he has 27mio gil and worries about things that sell to players for 1000g in maybe a month? Not worth it, the time used to sell this you could have made way more gil by gathering -> crafting something that actually sells well, like crafter food or crafter leveling items, crafter/gatherer quest turn ins, etc.

Lot of unnecessary penny-pinching, but the tips are scalable

Disclaimer: The video is old but the message is transcendent. First and foremost, there is NOTHING of value in FFXIV. Nothing. If anything, you have nothing but what is known as 'Inventory -1' items...by that meaning each time you get something in this game, it's just one less slot in your inventory. The best thing to do is just either NPC the items or let them drop to the floor. You're not going to have it for long ANYWAYS with the constant need to upgrade gear. Second is the collection of mounts/minions. If you have any intention to sell them, then keep the current 'flavors of the patch,' otherwise, use them or lose them. They are meaningless trinkets at this point. Finally, if you have any crafting desires, just stick to the low-level items and craft those only. Your crystals are stored in a separate section, so that's not a problem. Congratulations, your inventory problem is solved. Can we GO now?

Why is inventory management so complicated on a game in 2023. Particularly a AAA game. Just do what every other game does.

There's many ways to get yourself moving in the right direction in FF14. The simplest is with controller joy sticks. Some other methods for keyboard users include mouse left/right combined clicks in a pointed direction based upon camera angle. The other option is using the A, S, D, W buttons on the keyboard.
