I’ve been watching a lot of crossbar guides today as a new XBOX player. This is by far the easiest one to understand. Thanks!

i been using the expanded cross bar from day 1 its a must if you want to able to access all your skills easy and not have to switch hot bars. I use my 2nd hot bar as the hold l1 and or then r1for the skills i use the lest all my other hot bars are shared for emotes and telleporting stuff :). I strongly think all players should use these hotbars like he is saying after 10 years i dont think i can go back to having to switch to all 3 hot bars neeeded for most classes. thank you for making these vids for new players the more creators making controller guilds the more players can learn the best pc controller settings in gaming :).

This was the best guide I looked at. Answered every question in detail and gave a tutorial. I couldn't figure out how to make the crossbar smaller so it wouldn't take up so much of my screen and you covered it. THANK YOU.

Thanks for mentioning the ability to use normal hotbars in conjunction with XHB at the end of the video! I could swear I’d seen something about that before but couldn’t seem to find it again. Definitely going to set that up for some skills!

I just started using controller just for PVP and there are some really cool customization features in here that I missed! I found the option to expand the cross hotbar but I'm excited to mess with it a bit more so I can see more skills on the screen at once without actually switching hotbars - I've found sometimes I switch to the second hotbar and forget to switch back and then I'm spamming the wrong button wondering why it isn't working. I'm also hoping your controller targeting videos can help me target specific enemies faster because I really struggle with that.

Great video! Although I'm still confused how I can get all face and directional buttons to pop using the WXHB Double Cross Bar. It only displays my face buttons from Cross Bar 2, but not the D-Pad buttons. My main Cross Bar is Number 1, but I want to access Number 2 set of abilities using the double tap method. I'm probably just dumb 😅

  • @Filmire

There is a setting that flips between showing only face buttons or both D-Pad + face buttons in the WXHB. Maybe you have this set to only face buttons? There's a screenshot at 03:17 in the video that shows that setting under the "custom" tab.

Thanks for this video, Filmire! I'm having some trouble setting up my (w)xhb and was hoping I could get your guidance. I use L2 > R2/R2 > L2 (no double tap) and was wondering if it was possible to see both xhb and wxhb at all times. I tried multiple options but every time hotbar 2 makes hotbar 1 disappear (while holding).

Hello! I think you may actually be asking about the Expanded XHB at 02:45. There is no setting to keep it displayed at all times. However, for the WXHB there is, and that setting is at 03:15 in the video. Hope that helps!

@@Filmire It definitely does work when using the double tap but I was hoping the same properties held true when using L2 > R2 / R2 > L2. Tried every different combination but they all cause hotbar 1 to be replaced.

Yep, that is the Expanded XHB. Unfortunately there isn't a way to have it always displayed. It always replaces display of the base XHB when activated.

Such difficult controls for a simple game. I'm glad I got to try this game for free. I would NEVER pay monthly for this trash. I played for 60 hours, and nothing was challenging. I forgot I was even playing an MMO. Most of it was mind dulling single-player story with outdated cut scenes and no audio. It seems like they dumbed to game down to get everyone to max level. Don't waste your time and money on this game.

I'm sorry your experience 6 the best; however, if i may retort... 1) Not knowing your MMO history, you should leave it at the door. This game has been described as an RPGMMO since the story is very forward, but this is the same for every FF game. ARR (2.0-2.5) is very much about world building so it's going to be the most story intensive content of the game, and due to the conditions it was made under (it was developed alongside 1.0 to supercede 1.0 as well), so VA recording and direction was budgeted at the bare minimum just to get 2.0 out the door... both of which you see start to get rectified once you get into the Heavensward expansion, as well as seeing the story start to get more focused. 2) At 60 hours in, you should have at least finished base ARR (2.0) which sees the addition of the first raid series, which isn't the best admittedly but does begin to introduce more challenging battles. Ideally, 60 hours in should put you at or just to the first patch content (2.1) which introduced extreme versions of existing trials and the first wing of the 24 man alliance raid, which increased game difficulty. Additionally, most content scales down to close to original difficulty by selection optional conditions for battles (minimum ilevel and disabling the pity systen, echo, which increases dmg dealt and player HP upon a party wipe). If its the classes/jobs themselves that you find dont offer a challenge, you can always try any battle class on the same character which could also increase the difficulty range you're looking for. 3) For any new players getting into the game, just enjoy the ride. The free trial for this game is probably the most generous free content of any pay service game. Barring a few restrictions, you can play fully through the base game and two following expansions, with any available class/job (both battle and profession) to a max level of 70 (current max level is 90). 30+ boss battles, 3 challenging raid series, 3 engaging alliance battles, and 100s of hours of content at no cost and no time restrictions on gameplay. The community is overall one of the friendliest on an MMO and the narrative opens up incredible after progressing past 2.0. Not everyone will be a fan, but we always appreciate those who try and welcome those that stay.

@JayRhea FFXI was my jam back in the day. This game came nowhere close to that experience. It was a total letdown. FFXI didn't force you to go through hundreds of stupid story missions. It was about being in a party and doing your job. Then, when you did missions they were meaningful and difficult. Getting to level 50 was a cakewalk in this game. Then I get there, and they just hand me my set gear. Then I unlock Samurai, and it starts at level 50? My experience with the community wasn't particularly good, either. This game was not for me, and I haven't missed it since I deleted it weeks ago. It was nice to be able to try it on a beta, but honestly, I wish I could have that time I spent back.

@tommoran9801 I never played FFXI, so my knowledge on it is only second hand account and information on the web, and from what I've seen there's a trade off; yes base ARR does have a good number of main scenario quests (164 by my count), but these also help in world building for the rest of the game. Conversely, FFXI you need to complete the main city missions, however the game XP gates you, decreasing upon death, so both games have their flaws with "getting through the main story." I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the community (not sure which part) but nobody has 100% the best time, and (not to minimize you're experience) to think it would be is folly as every game has their negative social aspects and individuals. I will say, as someone who has changed data centers multiple times, not every DC is for everyone. For example, Aether is primarily for raiders, where as Crystal us usually home to streamers and the infamous NA RP/ERP world Balmung. There's usually a place for everyone (though I'm not sure how DC transfers are handled with the F2P trial). The MSQ can seem a bit "relaxed" which is a point that Yoshi-P has stated he'll address with DT though I understand that that's far off from where you stopped your experience. I'm not one of those to brow beat you or try "enticing" you to return, everyone has their reasons to stay and go. I will say though that I do hope you give it another try some day, and maybe with the right support of others you'll have a more enjoyable time. Should that happen, look me up (Darth Shade, primary DC is Aether). Us friendly folk vastly out number the negative Nancy's, and I know of a few communities that are always there to help and just have fun. Thanks for giving it a shot though 😊
