Welcome to the world of German Medieval- / Folk-Metal, where the hurdy gurdy and the bagpipes are common instruments. Feuerschwanz are a fantastic band, especially live. I did soot them several times and it was always great fun. Here they have three guest vocalists: Did you do the Saltatio Mortis rendition of "Hypa Hypa"? Their singer Alea is in this video here as well. You should definitely check out their rendition and also their song/video "My Mother told me"! Will give you a blast as well. You did "Valhalleluja" by Nanowar of steel? The guest singer (Odin) Thomas Winkler aka Angus McFife from Gloryhammer is here as well as guest. Not to forget the powerful Melissa Bony from Ad Infinitum. I am hoping so much that their 2022 tour can take place and that I'll shoot them again in Hannover.

I honestly cant believe you never heard the original by Manowar, its one of the OG Metal Hymns of all time. Insanely awesome cover here tho. Love the collab with Melissa Bonny, Gloryhammer and also Saltatio Mortis too i think :)

Ben metzer is also singer from dartagnan but that is his secound project and melissa bonny also sings in the Darkside of the moon along hans the guitarist from Feuerschwanz and jenny the redheaded girl with the axe. The fact that they can get a massive choir harmony going in the chorus with all of these amazing vocalists makes this version, dare I say it, a bit better even than Manowar's original. Feuerschwanz owe it to Manowar that this version became a thing obviously but much like how Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence built upon and improved the original I think this one does the same :)

Great reaction! I haven't stopped listening to this song since it premiered. Feuerschwanz are one of my favourite bands and then you add Alea from Saltatio Mortis, Melissa from Ad Infinitum and the glorious Thomas Winkler aka Angus McFife (Odin the Master of Ikea? - remember the Nanowar of Steel Valhallelujah video?! ha). Saltatio Mortis did (in my opinion the best) one of the hypa hypa versions with Eskimo Callboy. And as someone suggested - check out Ding, it's great.

Feuerschwanz is amazing, my favourite medieval metal band (and from a city something like an hour away from where I live). :) I'm excited for this album that's coming out end of this year, the bonus disc has a few other covers I'm really excited to hear.

Some background from germany: Feuerschwanz (which is a pun Feuer = fire / Schwanz = tail but also dick /cock): It's a german medieval / LARP band. They do a lot of good songs, including a lot of joking and puns but got more serious in the last two records. I love them, but most songs are in german. The dude in green armor was the lead singer of Gloryhammer (but was kicked out...), a powermetal band worth listing to, too. He was also in Valhalleluja - Nanowar of steel as Odin Dude with the long beard and undercut was Alea from Saltatio Mortis, one of germanys biggest medieval rock bands. And Melissa is the vocalist of Ad Infinitum, symphonic metal. And as most comments mentioned: this is a cover from the famous and maybe best Manowar song ever

Melissa Bonny is the reason this band exploded in popularity recently, Ding is an excellent cover as well. I first saw her with Rage of Light and am a big fan of Ad Infinitum. Rage of Light's replacement Martyna Halas is every bit as good as Melissa. This song was very popular in the 80s in metal circles, a lot of bands and even athletes use it to pump up backstage, Ad Infinitum used it on their last tour to the point Melissa got sick of it, she prefers this version.

The dude in the green armor is Angus McFife, formerly of Gloryhammer. Gloryhammer was stupidly epic. Unfortunately, that crazy drunken pirate turned darklord Chris Bowes fired him for no good reason. Gloryhammer's loss as far as I'm concerned.

Original was by manowar, their best song in my oppinion, and so well executed. this version feels almost cheated XD Eric had to do all vocals by himself and, he did the pronounciation more impactfull and better like Brothers...EVERYHWERE, raise your hands....and "bringing POWER" to us all. that said this version is more epic than the original, they had artists from 4 bands performing here (Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis, Gloryhammer, Ad Infinitum) and well im blown away Give the Original a listen, though sadly its not as good as this one it is a real metal classic though

Wonderful reaction. Nice to see how you are genuinely blown away. Also hard to believe you did not know the original from Manowar before, but hey, who cares? To pronounce the name correctly, you need to say "Feuer" like it is written with "oy" like in "oyster". Otherwise it sounds like "fewer schwanz", at least to my German ears. So more like "Foyerschwanz" (phonetics). As someone else has pointed out, the band itself says the name means "fire tail", like tail from a fire dragon. It is also a pun and can easily be mistaken as "fire dick". Anyway, keep up the good work!

You may not like every band and that's okay, but every band is talented in their own ways. You will find bands that you absolutely love. From this video we have no less then 6 bands reperesented. Feuerschwanz, (one of the singers has their own side project), Gloryhammer (Thomas Winkler AKA Angus McFife), Ad Infinitum (and Dark side of the moon with the guitarist Hans Platz) and the other guy that I can't remember in my drunken state. (many apologies). All of which are on the Napalm Records label.
