ALL people you see on stage are regular band members, even the 2 background ladies. I believe, one of them even is the tour manager. 😉 Feuerschwanz shows are always a big party, no matter if they play in Wacken or small music club!

They released an album this year, “Warriors”, which consists of 10 of their songs translated into English, plus two new songs in English. The songs MEMENTO MORI, UNTOT IM DRACHEMBOOT and DAS ELFTE GEBOT are all on it in English. A quick breakdown of who’s who - they all go by stage or character names but their real names are known: The knight in armour is Hauptmann (“ Captain”) and is the founder of the band. The other singer is Hodi, aka Ben Metzner. Guitarist - Hans (which is actually his real name as well as stage name) Violinist - Johanna Bassist - Jarne Drummer - Rollo Dancers (the Miezen or “Kitties”) - the blonde is Musch Musch and the redhead is Myu. Love this band!

I've never heard of this band but I'll certainly be checking out their catalogue now, this was amazing and just absolute fire actually. Hauptmann (Captain) Feuerschwanz (chainmail guy) is the last remaining founding member. Dancer/ stage & video performer Mieze Musch-Musch (Kitty Puss-Puss, the blonde one) is with them at least since 2009. If appearing outside of Feuerschwanz she mostly goes under the stage name Hexe (Witch) which is also her real life nickname. Mieze Myu (Kitty Myow) is with them since about 2012, since 2016 they are the exclusive Miezen. Myu was guest musician on a few songs with her harp, credited under her real name Jenny, she is also the harpist of The Dark Side Of The Moon. Memento Mori is Latin for "Remember Death" / "Remember Your Mortality": You'll take nothing with you into the grave, except you coffin. Untot im Drachenboot (Undead on the Dragon Boat), English version on the "Warriors" album titled Death on the Dragon Ship. Zombie Vikings, what more could one wish for. Metfest (Mead Feast [Renaissance fair I guess]) has some heavy play on words: first chorus starts "Ich will jetzt sofort auf ein Metfest" = "I want to go to a Mead Feast immediately", second chorus starts "Drum (short for Darum [yes, we do shorten words by one letter and call that German efficiency 😅]) haltet besser eurem Met fest" = "That's why you better hold on to your Mead tightly". Ultima Nocte is Latin for "Final Night" / "Last Night" (... before the battle). When they do outdoor shows during daytime or when they are in a venue with fire safety restrictions, the Miezen substitute the fire fans with actual fans that have flamelike dyed clothes attached (as seen in the official video for Metfest). Schubsetanz is a made up word (literally pushy dance/ shoving dance) referring to do the mosh pit, or, as Suzanne Victoria mentioned in the chat: pogo (which I guess is from the UK punk scene, but not sure about that). They weren't able to translate it properly into English for the Warriors album, as it has too much play on words in the lyrics, so they dropped it. Methämmer (selfexplanatory) was the title of their 8th studio album in 2018 (Schubsetanz & Die Hörner hoch are from that one too), after that, they got signed by Napalm Records. Hodi introduced Dragostea Din Tei as the melody played when the Vikings arrived at Mallorca (Majorca) in the year 739 to go on vacation 🤣. It was the suggestion of violinist Johanna to cover this song. "Metalheads are scary and worship Satan!" meanwhile at Wacken: "Majah Hii! Majah Huh! Majah Hah hah!..." One could tell by your facial expressions, when the first "Majah Hii" was to be heard in the back, what thoughts went through your mind: "Wait, was that..., no it couldn't... or was it... no they can't actually... but it sounds just like... THEY REALLY DID!" Rohirrim is the horserider army of the kingdom Rohan from The Lord Of The Rings, the song is loosely based on the speech of Théoden, King of Rohan, when he leads them into battle. They payed tribute to actor Bernard Hill, who portrayed the character in the movies, on their social media, after he passed in May of this year. It's the only song from the setlist that has no official video. Das Elfte Gebot (The Eleventh Commandment, English version titled The Forgotten Commandment) first chorus: "Because the 11th commandment tells to live as if death is waiting tomorrow, tomorrow death is already waiting. Yes, that's what is written in the 11th commandment", second chorus: "Because the 11th commandment tells to live as if death is waiting tomorrow, tomorrow death is waiting already. Yes, the 11th commandment tells to love and to burn up in flames ablaze (not properly translatableI think, literally it probably would be "glow down in flames ablaze", to me, burn up seems to not represent the range of "verglühen" in all it's tragic). The Miezen do that dance, representing life & death, in the original video too. I saw them live last year, it was the second (of four) shows where TDSOTM was guest on (Warkings was the official support band) so Melissa Bonny did not only joined them on WotWU but also on Ding. The venue went absolutely nuts on that one, even harder than Dragostea Din Tei!
