You guys are doing a great job!! I love your style!! I've been considering the purchase of a domino 700 for a long time now. Thanks to this video I went to PMC Machinery in Hammond LA last Monday and bought one ( my first FESTOOL) :-) The tool is amazing. I'm super stoked about how quickly and easily I can make a tight and exact fitting joint!!! The track saw is next. Thanks again fellas for the videos.

just bought a DF500 last week and finally got to play with it. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it's pretty slick. Just remember not to push it at all when lining it up or it will start cutting. The gap between the cutter and the wood is pretty small. Great tool and no dust or chips when using it!! Very impressive.

Excellent! Thank you. Another way to label your cabinet parts is to draw a triangle on the back edge of your work piece: top and bottom of the triangle are top & bottom cabinet parts, sides of the triangle split in half are the sides of your cabinet, middle of the triangle are the dividers. And you can also draw a small triangle on each part to indicate that it is part of the larger triangle drawn on your combined parts. I think it is called the Carpenter's or European marking method. If you think about it no other shape would work ie. circle, rectangle etc.... The insides of the triangle indicate the insides of your cabinet. You still have to remember whether the sides trap the top & bottom or vice versa, but that is easy.

Thanks for explaining how to do a shelf joint, I kept messing that up, but great tip on marking the boards and placing the marks on top of each other, I don't know how many times I've messed that up! Also another great tip on the 5x30 for 18mm board, I have messed up a couple of boards forgetting to reset the depth. Thank you Sedge!

Loving the content i watched this just before i used my new to me DF 500. But i major information that is lacking here is the special instructions when using the 4mm cutter. Rhe 5,6,8 and 10mm cutters depth of cut is same idea but 4mm need to double the depth of cut on the indicator to what is desired. A 4mm dominos are 4mm x 20mm long. So 10mm mortise requires the domino depth of cut to be set at 20mm. This is because the 4mm cutter is half the length in its shaft compared to the rest for the DF 500.

No they don‘t. I tried it here in Germany. As far as I know it has something to to with a patent conflict. So needed to stop building the pin versions. Due to easier fine adjustnent i prefer the pin version as well....but no chance to get it. I ordererd the complete fence as a spare unit....I got the new version.

@@mumi3532 Danke. I was afraid of that. I suspect the "Big M" German company that likes a lot of red on their tools. Their dual doweling machine uses pins. Oh, well, patents don't last forever.

The 700 still uses pins and was one of the reasons I went for it over the 500, it just felt better.... So if they can still use it on one version of the tool I doubt it's a patent conflict.

I have seen several of your lives and it was so.nice to not hear sedge do the 3 stooges sounds. He’s supposed to be selling the Festool name, which in this video he did a great job and only heard one three stooges sound. The lives he does as a whole are very informative, but hearing the three stooges sounds are really annoying, inappropriate and have nothing to do with selling the product. For those of you who don’t know, you can buy an adapter by a company called Seneca, at Woodcraft, which is like $75.00 and eliminates the need to buy a 500 later on. It screws onto the 700 and allows you to do ANY size domino.

Could not really take more than about 10 minutes of this video. The quality of the production is ridiculous. Can you imagine two or three jokers trying to film this with their iPhones and getting in the way of a professional production. Mickey Mouse could do better. The background noise from the vacuum adds to the confusion. Can't imagine that a company like festival cannot produce an instructive video.
