Festool Kapex Has to go onto the Mobile UG Base with Extensions

After years of use in the workshop the Festool Kapex has to go....... back onto the Mobile base so I can use it out on the job site again.

The kapex looks quite portable, I’ve got the Bosch GCM 12 GDL in the workshop and due to its weight it’s definitely not portable imo. So I bought a cheap 10” evolution saw with their stand which is very stable and easily portable. Love my Festool stuff though. Interesting vid thanks for sharing 👍🏻

I have just watched the video on the kapex ,you said to not go away as you where going to talk about compressors, still waiting🤣🤣🤣🤣

My Kapex has been portable as long as I've had it, but now I'm setting up a new shop. And...deciding whether to mount it on a bench or keep it on the UG stand. I'll be interested to see what you do with yours.

Hi Todd, mines been back and forth so many times, its going to depened on the frequency of site work coming in I think, I'm not spending the rest of my days taking it on and off of mobile bases. 👍👍
Possibly the RAS could live there.

How long of a board can you cut before you need the extensions?

Hi Jeff, on the saw itself or do you mean the side extensions?

@@GTWoodshop I mean how long of a board could you cut on the saw as it comes from the manufacturer without the aluminum extensions they sell separately. I was going to make a miter station eventually and I am weighing whether I need a mobile base and also whether I needed to get the extensions $1,000. Ouch.

@@jeffa847 Hi Jeff, the surface of the mitre saw bed is 560mm long, I think that's the best way to answer as length of board would depend on thickness etc. Hope that helps.
Festool are the Gucci of wood working industry. There is absolutely no need to spend that kind of money on wood working tools. That stand for that saw is absolute junk.
