@@fishhuntgrow7727 golden eagles take down deer, adult mountain goats and can even be trained by falconers to hunt and kill wolves. Harpy eagles kill sloths, monkey and other prey considered too large for most flying birds. That said, eagles and hawks are two different leagues of bird. A hawk can try to grab a dog that large and would probably give it a good scare, but it’s going to be the last thing that hawk ever does unless it immediately escapes.

Fyi birds of prey have no problem killing animals larger than themselves. They do not need to fly off with their kill, and will gladly eat their fill and leave the rest as they can not get off the ground very well with more than 2 lbs in their crop. For those that are saying the hawk was protecting a nest.... I don't think zooming in out of the sun, AFTER a full on sneak attack, doesn't make sense. First of all, birds take into account their surroundings when choosing a nest site. I don't think any bird would knowingly build a nest anywhere near zippy the wonder zoomer..... And second, when they are trying to scare something off or away from a nest they come in with a lot of noise and let you know it's time for you to leave. That thing made a sneak attack coming in low out of nowhere. Then a second attack out of the sun so the guy couldn't see him. That looks like predatory behavior to me.
@laurametheny1008
2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. The one I saw was making little noises but when I came out and saw him swoop there was nothing. Just the dip n dive. And then he hid in a tree for a minute watching the other dogs. Didn't leave until their owner came out as well. Calculating I'd say. Tho behaviors ARE changing in all animals. More and more sharks are showing up in areas of brackish water where no one has ever seen them. I think I heard on a show it wasn't just bulls anymore either. We don't get bears in town in Illinois! Ha. We do now.🙏🤔🐾

Doggos like Hey! Is that a toy for me?? Wow! That bird has to be really hungry to go for a dog that size with YOU standing right there brandishing a weapon! Thanks so much for posting this! I JUST caught a HUGE bird going low over MY backyard while my MUCH smaller fawn colored Chihuahua mix was out going pottie. I heard it and came out. It hid in the trees for a bit as there were other small dogs out, but when their owner came it left. The wingspan! My God they are big! My dog is mixed with Italian Greyhound. Looks like Bambi without the spots. My daughter thought it could get her too. We've got Eagles now as well. In Illinois. In town. Idk if this was what you saw but they looked pretty close. Everything is changing fast now. We have coyotes and fox in broad daylight. And there have been wolf sightings and BEAR. In people's yards in the daytime. Really worried about our neighbors little dog. He's like a Pom or something. Really tiny. And she leaves him out in her huge bare backyard, alone and barking, forever. Going over there and try to wake her up. Ill take him if she doesn't want him. This is the 2nd one over years that's she's done this. But it's NOT safe anymore. She needs to see your vid.🙏😲🐾🤘
At first, based on the size of the dog, I was expecting a pterodactyl size hawk to come out of the sky…..but that hawk really has poor size judgment, lol
My dog is exactly like this.🤣 He only got nervous when he didn’t know what the dude was looking at. He had no idea about the hawk .
Hard to hit a moving target…!!! What a cutie…..!!! He’s got the zoomies….!!!! 🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾

Had a hawk attack my puppy, no joke & scarred the poor thing. I named her Destiny because she was picked up by this hawk by her head about 7 feet & hawk dropped her, she & I was shocked, took her to the vet, she has a scar on her head 4 inches long from that horrible ordeal. No more parks for my dog now, she scared, she wont go yes sad. God bless all whom endured this🙏🏼❤️🌹🌹🌹

Looked more like a protection dive to me. Hard to say it technically didn't even try to grab it, it just flew close and away.
The dog is hyper yes but when he seen that hawk and seen his dad was seriously disturbed by it, he stopped running for a minute to recoup lol
Anyone gonna acknowledge how perfectly cut this guy's grass is?
We used to live in the desert and there was a HUGE ASS OWL that lived across from us... probably because we had 12 cats and a schnauzer...they all disappeared and one night the dog was whining... ... when we looked out, the owl had it's claws in the dog trying to fly away... it's wingspan was awesome....
The dog is so cute running around.
Maybe the hawk was trying to get the dog to calm down, lol. I can't imagine having a dog like this is in the house. He needs acres to run.
The dog thought, "you cant catch what you can't see"

Legend has it that the guy is still chasing the Red Tail Hawk with the Pool Leaf Skimmer to this day
dog, "hey dude, why are you looking up? I am here, play with me old man, what's wrong with you dude? DUDE? dudeeeeee, are you okay?"
Once he missed and he knew they were looking for him, that hawk attacked out of the sun. The guy couldn't see him. That's the amazing part to me.
@laurametheny1008

A little heavy for a hawk. I was sitting in my yard with two chihuahua puppies I was fostering, and a hawk landed right on my fence and was peering down at them! Luckily I was sitting right with them, so I scooped them up and brought them inside. They would have been the perfect snack!

That hawk was trying to intimidate, it likely has a chick close by. It in no way was after that dog. It's laughable to think otherwise.

The dog's running in circles created a suction that pulled the hawk down. It narrowly escaped...

Errrr... this is more redtail-ish behavior than Ferruginous. For one, the Red-tails well known adaption to urban environments and the Ferrugs' avoidance of it make it unlikely that it's a Ferruginous. BUT even in still frames it's hard to tell. If it is an RT it's an immature bird. And passage RT "oops" attacks are well documented
