Ferris IS6200 with 48hp CAT Power

The Ferris IS6200 powered by a 48hp CAT Diesel brushes up against the edge of insanity. And a lot of ways, I think a lot of the things here that they're doing are very cool. So we're going to walk you around this mower here and show you the most ludicrous lawnmower I think I've ever seen. Sometimes it's really cool to see companies doing things simply because they can, right, because of the things that are possible today, because of what can be engineered. Kind of throwing, you know, normal conventions and normal sanity out the window and making something awesome because they can this mower is kind of that for me in the zero turn mower space.

I own a small fleet of diesel Walker Mowers. All Kubota powered, and my particular unit (nobody else uses the bosses machine lol) just rolled over 8,000hrs this summer, on a D600 that I'm convinced is one of the most reliable little diesels ever built. And for those who don't know... mower engines live a particularly rough, dirty and hot life.

I used to have an L4740 running a 15ft finish bat wing. That tractor had a 41hp PTO out the back. It ran the Batwing just fine. I can't imagine how much torque and power you would have with 48hp going to that small of a deck😳😳

@@ChaseLandMgmt Close we usually use that setup to cut fields to 5 " on a golf course. And occasionally mow 3" to help the other mowers when they got behind. This year it almost exclusively got to mow 3" in parks and the golf course due to a complete failure of a John Deere 1600 wide area mower(admin wanted to wait till new budget year to buy a new one). I'm just glad we got a brand-new M5660suhd to pull the batwing because it got a lot of hours put on it.

Put this powerhouse in a cub with the GPS system and you're gold. Idk if you saw it, but it gives you a true 3.75in overlap every single pass. At the end of the row, you hit left or right and it turns perfectly and lines up again with 3.75in overlap. With this powers you'd have an amazing piece of machinery that cost as much as a car.

Two a lawn professional that is doing huge acreages that needs to have a good looking cut once they're finished. Ferris is known for their great suspension in all their ZTR line. Like Neil said this one just takes it to another level.

I like the desing, seat and the turbo on the new one, the only downside is that i don't like the hidraulic deck lift on the new 6200 Z...with the old manual ones ( foot pedal ) and the oil switch on the instrument panel you could do so much more work around stumps , un-even terain on slopes and so on.

For some reason Cat's website states the C1.7 having only 40.2 HP. WTH? Still plenty though. I used to have a Dixie Chopper 72" with twin 20 HP Kohlers. It was nutty. Two keys. Two chokes. Two everything. Except for some reason it had four gas tanks and I think it held 12 gallons total. Each engine had a centrifugal clutch with a belt that went to a central jackshaft. Two other belts came off that and one went to the mower deck and the other went to the hydraulic pump. At idle nothing would work because the jackshaft was not spinning. It had digital tachometers so you could synchronize the full throttle RPMs of each engine for full power and efficiency. It would mow at 16 miles per hour but of course that was a waste because the cut quality was not good. It was really sort of crudely designed but it was a fun machine and would also do wheelies. I bought it broken (bad deck bearing and spindle) for a good deal and mowed with it for four or five years and sold it with the house.

The warrenty should be able to be upgraded to an additional 4 years for an affordable price that will allow you to get a field service tech to the machine at no cost to you. The 2 year warrenty period was chosen by ferris so they could save the money upfront.

The problem with the mowers now isn't the power, it's the weight!!!!! These things are way to heavy for mowing...both of my scags are 1500lbs + each, getting them stuck involves a lot of time and stress to get them out. Plus they sink down so much on lawns causing ripples so to speak or tire ruts....I don't care about power as much as making them lighter!!

Don't under rate gasoline engine, I'm still using a Kohler K301 (12 hp) with a 44 inch deck and a heavy hydrostatic drive system to mow the lawn. It goes through anything, never uses oil, and always starts. It's just a little single cylinder cast iron engine, but it's around 45 years old now, and who knows how many hours. I think in all of that time, the engine has only been rebored once. I doubt anything has been done to the hydrostatic drive. The tires are even original, but they are showing their age.

It's not like a car tire that will wear down from being on the road and trying to get the most traction out of them. These tires are harder than the ground now, slowing the wear down more. The worst issue is the dry rotting.

@@Senkino5o Not so. I have a 1973 Craftsman Suburban with a single cylinder cast ironed sleeved 15hp B&S when they made good smaller engines. I don't use it now but it was used for at least 30 years mowing around fields, ponds, and large lawns. Those tires are not even remotely worn out or even cracked. They just seem to be tougher than the tires on mowers made today.
