Ferreting In The Snow - 17 Rabbits Removed
Ferreting in the snow with Josh and Jess and Paige by my side. Was a very successful day managing to remove 17 rabbit of our old permission in the -4 snow. Was Jess's and the young ferrets first time seeing the snow and they worked incredibly well in it. Jess is getting more confident by the day and picking the rabbits up no bother now; very excited to see how she come on as she's still only 11 months old.

I am pleased to see that in the UK you still have rabbits in reasonable numbers. In my country (Holland) 99% of all wild rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) perished due to Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD) and Myxomatosis. I read somewhere that the American wild rabbit, the eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus) is not susceptible to myxomatosis.

Alot of our rabbits have been wiped out by mixy and rhd over here to, left with very little numbers compared to what there was unfortunately

@@RabbitExpress Have a look at this piece from scientific journal. It is about the introduction of the cottontail in northern Italy: Silvano, Fabrizio; Acquarone, Camilla; Cucco, Marco (2000). @Kevin Turner completely the wrong way around, rabbits in this amount leave no room for nature around them they eat everything! Reducing the outstanding amount of rabbits will increase the biodiversity in the area. We witness this after the first week of removing them. I simple search would of gave you all this information but I'm glad I had the chance to education you 😊 Rabbits are pests, left unmanaged destroy and eat everything around them causing death to more animals and insects then you could imagine. We take pride in what we do especially when it comes to schools, graveyards and heritage sites
