I just saw this movie. I would rate it as excellent. It's immersive, emotional, shot beautifully , with lots of attention to detail.

C'mon.. Marriage Story was visceral and stunning. I dont see how anyone who went through a parents divorce, or their own isnt moved by that fillm. Adam Driver was phenomenal. RIP Ray Liotta.

Well I did go through a divorce as a kid but for whatever reason I wasn't into Marriage Story. Felt like Baumbach had already covered that terrain in superior fashion in 'The Squid and the Whale'.

About that ending. I know what you mean. A few times in the past, endings have snuck up on me, and I was slackjawed, and wondering what the hell I missed. The ending of "Zodiac" was like that for me the very first time I saw it in the theater. As much as I loved the movie, I didn't get the sense that it was winding things up in that moment (despite how much time had passed too!). I also didn't know anything about the Zodiac case beforehand, so i didn't know that the case was unsolved. But with "Ferrari", my brain caught up with the proceedings about ten seconds before it actually ended. Very close, but at the last minute I realized that him walking away with the kid was going to be the last shot! Whew!! lol

I might check a couple of Michael Mann movies I haven't seen yet before this one but if you liked it you'll probably enjoy the documentary Ferrari: Race to Immortality (2017) which is about the Ferrari drivers during the 50s. Two very different racing movies you might also like are Pit Stop (1969) and Redline (2009). If you're interested in something similar to the Mille Miglia with bikes instead of cars the closest to it these days would probably be Road racing with races like The Isle of Man TT or the North West 200, you have tons of footage online so you're in for a treat!

Great review as always James, loving your work ❤. Michael Mann is my all-time favorite director so look forward to his movies more than any other. Heat 2 was an excellent read, so I really hope he gets to make it. Adam driver as Neil McCauley or maybe Chris Shiherliss ? I do think Miami Vice, Public Enemies and even Blackhat are underrated. I recommend reading the book Public Enemies is based on, it reads like a novel and covers an amazing 5 year period of American history, John Dillinger, Alvin Karpis, Bonnie and Clyde, Baby Face Nelson and birth of the modern FBI. All the best James ❤

Why do biopics suck this year? First Oppenheimer and now Ferrari. I want to learn what drove the people and why they were successful, but it's just some random window into tumultuous periods in the later stages of their lives with no real heroes that left you wondering what the hell happened at the end?

You’d think Adam Driver of all people would have learned that the world no longer accepts Americans speaking English in a foreign language story. It’s insulting to its audience. Michael Mann and Ridley Scott are old enough to say to the financiers NO. ..I’ll watch Ferrari when there is an Italian dubbed English subtitle version out.

Crap movie. So many bad cuts, poor dialog, pathetic italian/english accent, acting and more. The only thing well done in this movie is the gory crash. But that kind of sums up the movie, a crash.
