I still think he holds value though so using him as a super sub at let’s say the second half or 60th minute would allow him enough time to regenerate and play to his best potential. They were still carrying teams on their backs by giving great assists, scoring from distance, making their team play the game.......C Ronaldo is not even close to them as a player. Ronaldo was a great scorer. When his physical attributes went down with his age going forward, he did not have a use for his team...

Honestly, I don’t think Ronaldo should be on the field, rather he should be maybe on the bench maybe in the 2nd half he could be on. Or jsut be on the bench. If Portugal somehow manages to beat through and win the WC Atleast he’d be there (on bench) but present on the game. It would be more suitable as at the time of the WC he’d be 41 and I don’t think he can perform at the highest level of his career as he has at his prime. And we are not blinded by the glitz and glamour of a player's lifestyle on Instagram, his chiselled body, good looks and what not. We value players only based on talents. That is why we know Ronaldo is not even half of what messi is. Ronaldo undoubtedly a legend and one of the best, but comparing him with messi, Maradona, pele and even johan Cruyff would be foolish. Hard work always pays off......that is true....but sometimes you have to also admit that hardwork can never bring you to the level of talent when you are god gifted. Ronaldo and messi is the living proof of that. I am happy for Ronaldo that with limited talent he has worked so hard and been so disciplined that he got much more than what he would have got othetwise. He got the chance to get into the discussions of the all time greats. But deep inside he also knows even with all this hardwork and talent he finally failed to match messi. Deep inside he knows that and that is why he cannot accept the fact, hes in dissonance. This is where he sould admit that you can never match such gift of god with anything....and he could have lived in peace

In football it is old. The stamina needed to run for 90 mins diminishes as you get older. 28 year old Ronaldo would have scored 2 or more goals in that match with the same opportunities. There were a few headers that were inches away from him reaching. If he had the same explosiveness he once had, he would have reached them. He has done an amazing job staying fit but time catches us all.

I still think he holds value though so using him as a super sub at let’s say the second half or 60th minute would allow him enough time to regenerate and play to his best potential. They were still carrying teams on their backs by giving great assists, scoring from distance, making their team play the game.......C Ronaldo is not even close to them as a player. Honestly, I don’t think Ronaldo should be on the field, rather he should be maybe on the bench maybe in the 2nd half he could be on. Or jsut be on the bench. If Portugal somehow manages to beat through and win the WC Atleast he’d be there (on bench) but present on the game. It would be more suitable as at the time of the WC he’d be 41 and I don’t think he can perform at the highest level of his career as he has at his prime. And we are not blinded by the glitz and glamour of a player's lifestyle on Instagram, his chiselled body, good looks and what not. We value players only based on talents. That is why we know Ronaldo is not even half of what messi is. Ronaldo undoubtedly a legend and one of the best, but comparing him with messi, Maradona, pele and even johan Cruyff would be foolish. They would rather spend money developing a young player than renewing the contract of an older player who they know won't get any better.

In football it is old. The stamina needed to run for 90 mins diminishes as you get older. 28 year old Ronaldo would have scored 2 or more goals in that match with the same opportunities. There were a few headers that were inches away from him reaching. If he had the same explosiveness he once had, he would have reached them. He has done an amazing job staying fit but time catches us all.
