Yes at the beginning of his presidency Ferdinand Marcos was an intelligent person, he did have ways of persuading a lot of people with his knowledge,speech which most political would do, when his presidency was getting closer to an end, he used his knowledge and his speech again, He knew that by declaring Martial Law no one will go against his will, no more President, Governor, Mayor elections ,he would still be in power with Military on his side, that was his intentions.

Actually he's reading notes spontaneously.. observed at 29:30... In front of him are two idiot boards or teleprompter.. which is transparent.. sometimes or once in a while he glance and reading it. But totally, Pres. Marcos is a good speaker and orator.. I highly appreciate his being witty and his memory... The way he answered the questions...is very superb... Pres. Siguro magka mukha lang pero malayong malayo sa talino. Yung Ama hindi aatras sa mga debate. Yung Jr ayaw magpa kita, iwas ng iwas, pati sa mga journalista. I'm a American who lived in PH while he was president. People just remember him declaring Marshal Law and his wife's shoes. In truth he was a very intelligent man, well read. The older Filipinos remember him building projects and programs all over the PH.

Ferdinand Marcos transformed the Philippines from an Agrarian backward Country in 1965 to a mixed Economy in 1980. Back in the 60s.. Manila was the only modern city in the Philippines all the other cities were just populated towns with a huge gap of standard of living vs Manila few people have access to electricity in the rural areas, farming was done like in the feudal days His regime introduced farm mechanization through IMF loans in which they lent money to farmers His regime built the first backbone highways that connected the country the first light metro railway in the capital increased the literacy rate from 60% to 85% increased access to electricity created new provincial regions and regional cities developed other sources of energy such as geothermal, hyrdoelectric and even nuclear( which wasn't used by the next presidents ) built 100 state universities and major hospitals built more than 50,000 class rooms in his first 4 years as President and certainly built more later on built more bridges than any other Philippine president until Duterte ( probably ) reduced the crime rate during Martial Law Rapists and Murderers were electrocuted if proven guilty 1 Drug Kingpin was executed by firing squad hundreds of corrupt officials sacked in the 1970s 60,000 illegal fire arms confiscated in the 1970s from private individuals reduced unemployment from 7 - 14% in the 1970s down to 5% in the early 1980s achieved rice self sufficiency in the late 1970s but was sabotaged by the opposition reduced the likelihood of the Communists to be recruiting students by putting the country under Martial Law and for the record, no court in the Philippines was able to convict the Marcoses of any criminal case sine 1986 all they were able to pass on as convictions were all civil cases. No wonder many people hate this man!

My god this man is so brilliant. He doesn't bring a pre-written speech, but was still very precise to his numbers and even the dates. You can tell this man was very in control and very involved in the job. Unlike the rest of the succeeding presidents where mos of the things in their speech were prepared by assistants and sometimes asks a personnel when asked for a precise number.
