Fenton Link Road - Belair to Green Hill - DRIVE SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

I thought it was a good idea,... ever got so far in something you underestimated then couldn't turn back?
Yup it's like that.
This is not one for tired eyes, there's alota bush, with very little editing.

I am driving with you from Arnos Vale up through Fenton Mountain. You passed my home where I was born 83 years ago! I saw it! Saw it! I am told it is now operated as a spa. I was an alter server at St John’s Anglican Church. It was the nearest building to my home. I glimpsed the Belair primary school where I taught for a term before I joined the Civil Service. As you drove up that “forbidden” mountain road I looked over at Jimwood where my grandfather had his six acres of “mountain land”. We still own it! Here is a factoid for you. I used to walk from home to Emanuel High School every day. That school was then at Bottom Town (Near Victory Park). Can’t think what we did when it rained but I never got whet . We always got a lift. Seeing all the developments is mind boggling. I worked at the Registry which was then located in the Courthouse. I never had the privilege of practicing law there. I have not lived in SVG since 1961. I enjoy the phenomenal changes in development, as you drive along. Every village from Arnos Vale to Gomea and everything in between was my boyhood haunt, especially on school holidays. Thanks for your trips.

I remember melting the batteries and doing that.....scraping sulphur from a matchstick into the hole...sticking a nail in the hole then hitting the nail with a flat piece of board to make it pop....those were what we called 'boy days' 😄

The greatest "off the on road" adventure ever!! Enjoyed every second, even though I was holding my breath for many seconds!! I'm now convinced a part of my Dad's adventurous spirit resides in you -- he would have thrived on this drive. And when you stopped at the the beautiful flower and snagged some lemon grass, I simultaneously laughed and cried -- Dad kept a small shovel and bucket in the trunk of our 1954 Plymouth for such an occasion. Dad had planted a "side of the road garden" in front of our house. When asked about the garden's name, Dad simply explained that all the flowers and grasses came from "along side many roads." Thank you so much for a fun-filled, breath-holding ride!! I enjoyed every single butt-clenching second. Oh, by the way, please pat The Beast's hood as gratitude for service above and beyond the call of duty -- job well done, to you both!! Hope your tea was tasty and refreshing!! Be safe!

Several times I had to remind myself that you are not driving while I’m watching, and that you made it through and back home safe and sound. I agree with Carol she described it exactly “but clenching and breath holding, but enjoyable”. Hats off to you and the Beast!! 👍🏽👏🏽 Thank you for doing what you do and taking us along by sharing. God bless 🙏🏽

This section of St.Vincent is the best feature of a Vincentian jungle. A very lonely byway/road. NEVERTHELESS, I love it, but won't drive it during the night. Thanks for your video. Good job. Take care. Watching from NYC.

Lovely to see those bushy rural areas of St. Vincent. The nice big houses in the built-up areas are appealing, but the countryside has always been a big draw for me. Your description of the Fireworks on Guy Fawkes night brings back memories of my school days there. Some of the older boys used to have those lead blocks you were talking about, and making explosions with them from the match sulphur. It works on the same principle of the trigger hitting the bullet in gun. Gun powder being a lot more explosive, of course. Seeing those bamboo joint explosions brought back memories, too. I remember a boy getting his face badly burnt from an unexpected blow-back, so those boys should be careful. Nice you're still doing the videos even with the computer being down. Take care.

When I were young, they used to call that lily " lady of the night ":). They really ought to keep the deep rooted plants/trees growing at the roadside to try and prevent landslides.

That road should have been fixed over the years. It's not to far from the capital, people coming from overseas should have been driving through those areas not to far from kingstown..
