Fenix PD40R V2 at Night! 3000 Lumen monster

Ғылым және технология

I had to make another video because I was out with my camera anyways, this thing never gets old! 3000 lumens being thrown from a light that has the SST-70 is incredible! mostly because the SST-70 is nearly the same size as the XML2 but has a much high maximum output! thanks for watching.
so many people give credit to the light makers but none of this would be possible without the Emitter manufacturers. Cree, Luminus, Osram, Philips, Samsung.
the SST-70 is an incredible emitter because its nearly the same size as the Older XML2 and newer XPL but has a much higher maximum output due to its quad chip design.

why does Turbo last only 1 minute but on the box it says 2hr 40min? Can someone explain this to me for the love of god.

The total amount of runtime on turbo before the battery drains is indeed 2hr 40min. But in turbo the light heats up quite fast. In order to protect itself, it will reduce the output to 1000 lumens once a certain thermal threshold is reached. That could be in 1 minute, it could also be 10 minutes, this really depends on the temperature, so it's not going to be the same duration every time.

@@lucmulder2 You are wrong. I checked with Fenix. Fenix explained that it shuts out Turbo mode once the battery is less than 80% full or 3.6v (battery packaging says 3.6v but really it is 4..2v). Try it yourself. Take the heat/thermal threshold equation out of it by turning it on Turbo for 30 seconds (or however many seconds you see fit) and let it completely cool and repeat. You will see that as soon as the battery goes down to 79% the Turbo mode is no longer there.

This light needs 5 modes in my opinion. I own the original PD40R and the 5 levels of light all have their uses

You know. I actually agree. The higher the output the more modes it should have in my opinion because the gap in outputs can be quite large in some. I forgot what light it was but back a couple years ago I believe it was one of the Nitecore TM series lights had a large gap in outputs it went from 500 lumens to 2000 lumens. Needed to be somewhere in between
