An outlaw country king is honored with a full-featured phaser that dishes his signature swoosh and many more modulation moods.
Few artists can lay claim to defining the sound of a genre, but Waylon Jennings is the undisputed outlaw of outlaw country. Defining a tone all his own drenched in a signature sweeping phase-shifting effect, Waylon toured through the most prominent phaser effect pedals that the ‘70s and ‘80s had to offer. And now the Waylon Jennings Phaser pedal takes you along for that same ride by emulating the stomp boxes he used to forge his own path.
Building on Fender’s original four-stage phaser circuit developed in the 1970’s, the Waylon Jennings Phaser provides three distinct flavors of phasing by switching between two, four, or six phase stages. When combined with the Range and Feedback controls, these three phase voices cover the gamut of phasing tones used by Jennings on stage and in studio. Skip right to the good stuff and turn on the Sweet Switch to jump right to the “sweet spot” of clean signal mixed with phase-shifting tones, perfect for adding the right amount of flavor to your favorite cowboy chords. Whether you’re looking to nail Waylon’s signature tone, or find a new one all your own, the Waylon Jennings Phaser can dial in just the right phase for you.
FEATURES:
•Original, all-analog Fender circuit replicates vintage phaser tones and beyond
•Phase Switch selects between 2, 4, and 6 stages of phasing
•Sweet Switch jumps right to the “sweet spot” of phaser tones
•Road ready aluminum chassis
•Top Mount Input/Output Jacks and True-Bypass Switching
•Powered by 9-Volt Battery or Center Negative AC Adaptor (Not Included)

Honestly it's long overdue that Waylon started getting recognition from Fender.

Waylon's guitar playing was criminally underrated.

for sure great innovative guitar and bass player; could move between everyone's style with ease... made the business right for song writers... re-invented the turnaround... John crossing over to the early reggae is not lost on Waylon fans after-all it was Waylon that cut-timed all the beats for us

@@forcemajeur.5138 there's an interview with chris scruggs where he dives into that half-time... personally I thought it was early reggae that solved the tempo problem but really it was waylon many many years before on so many levels ie over-riding producers and labels to get it done.... this is one interview with chris and gibbs... chris has gone on about it at length... I'll try to find more... enjoy!
I love a bit of Waylon. That's coming from a metal head.
Can we get a John rig rundown? His guitars are super interesting! Love them

Dang it, Bollinger! I was just watching for idle curiosity and now I really want this.
Sounds like the phaser that was built in to those old Peavey amps….yeah, I’m suddenly in the market for a new Phase pedal
John, your playing is always great, but this one really made me smile.
Killer demo. Never seen anyone play Ain’t Talkin Bout Love, like that either.
Interesting and versatile phaser 🙂! One observation, though: In spite of the “Instant Waylon” switch (Sweet Spot), I think the plain-old 2-stage phase, with some minor knob-tweaks, and from the Telecaster, of course, is the closest to Ol’ Waylon 😎🎸🤠❤️! The Strat sounded great through this pedal, too 🙂, although it doesn’t have the edge like the Tele does, naturally. “It’s the same old tune, phaser and guitar - where do we take it from here?” 🤠🎸😎 Yee-hah! 😁
Gritty phaser. Cool sounding pedal, it should be popular given time. 😎🤓
I'm not even that big of a country fan and I could legitimately see myself purchasing this pedal and using it on my board

Good demo, great playing!
Such a versatile pedal, and a great run-through from John.
John, you slayed this!! Sounded so fantastic!
My boss ph-3 phase shifter does the same thing I really love it
sorta like my old Roland Phase Five, but the MAGIC switch on them is Touch Sensitivity
WOW! Thanks, just ordered one 🎸
Great job John as always! I liked how you starting moving a bit like Keith when you played Beast of Burden
Nice pedal and great playing as usual from John .
I can haz, please! This is just awesome!
Fender’s outright re-issue pedals are winners. A serviceable effort for a 3 into 1 phaser.
great demo!
Cool pedal and awesome playing.
Really got a sort of Ry Cooder thing going there 2. This pedal sounds great at so many different types of styles.

bass line and groove reminiscent of "Kiss You All Over" by Exile

Great review. Covered all the bases - thanks! Would be curious to know if there are any unity volume issues when engaged? I've got a couple of phaser pedals and noticed that can be an issue at times.

Unity is a tough nut to crack. Perceived loudness is much lower when you have a bunch of notches in the freq spectrum, so manufacturers tend to add some make-up after the effect.
I just got one of these now to try it out
What a nice price for such a decent pedal. Often we overlook stuff cause of the cheap price tag.
Sounds like a univibe!!
Waylon J, Country/Rockabilly sounds?..........🎸🎸🐺🎶🎶✍🏼
Thats a great review. So much treble it hurts my ears, but a great review. Thanks!
Wuzup John? Dang that tele with that pedal sounds good...do I hear it accentuating some of the string rattle on the low strings? Anyway it is always a pleasure listening to your demo.

Waylon and Jerry Reed both used phaser a lot. That said, it is a kinda odd “collab.” But hey, welcome to the party.
Pink Floyd
Wow, a new version of an old thing. But Fender sure needs the $$....
This phaser doesn't sound anything like any phase tone that Waylon ever used. This thing has a weird, quirky univibe sort of thing going on that sounds more like Hendrix than Waylon. Waylon used conventional mass production pedals that were readily available and easy to find in their day, and not any boutique, cork sniffer stuff. That kind of stuff didn't even exist in the prime of Waylon's career. A simple MXR Phase 90 or Phase 100, or an old Boss Phase Shifter or anything like that will get you a good Waylon sound. Phase isn't that boutique or complicated. In the 1970's, most country players were either using the built in phase effect on a Peavey or Music Man amp, or they were using a Phase 90. Just get a script Phase 90 and you'll have the classic phase sound that almost everyone is chasing in the first place. Especially if 1970's country is the sound you are into.

I said the same thing on the Fender youtube page about the pedal. This sounds nothing like the phaser tones Waylon used. Lots of comments saying Waylon used Phaser on all of his stuff which is also totally not true! There were periods where he did use it and utilized it, but a lot of the time he played direct, used a phaser lightly or use a chorus pedal during the 90's. On recordings, Reggie Young probably phaser more than Waylon. Like Chris said, Waylon was not fancy pedal pants! He used the basic and normal gear of the time, nothing special. End of the day, Waylon's great Tele playing and Tone comes his Telecasters and from the hands of Waylon himself.

I agree. I didn't hear a single phase tone that reminded me of Waylon at any point. I get much closer with my normal 90 or my EVH 90. This definitely has a trem quality to it that i'd love for other things, but it definitely does not sound like Waylon to me.

yep. Just get a script phase 90. Done. This is too much. Also near the end of his career Waylon used a TC Electronic chorus.
