    This is of course a starting point and does not need to be strictly adhered to. It all depends on what your playing style is. Higher action is my thing because I tend to play harder and bend strings and I don't want my strings to buzz against the frets. Avoiding fret buzz according to your style is to me a more accurate measurement tool.

    Finally a guy who knows what he's doing and can teach as well. Thank you for this Video. I kept going through videos on KZread trying to find someone who could answer my questions about seeing up my Fender 51 but in general acute knowledge about pickup height and overall specs from the fender factory. So many videos I went through because guy would say, ("there isn't any exact measurements from fender", I've looked for them and found no results when I used Google.) I was like OMG idiot. But you sir was very helpful and I enjoyed you tips for measuring and other tools you can use to measure. You my friend are very likeable and interesting. You kept my attention throughout this Video and also inspired me as well. Great lesson you have put out there and I hope you do many more. But most of all thank you for being smarter than a fifth grader and 97% of the guitar tech guys on KZread. Why aren't you bring paid by KZread I imagine you are someone very important at whatever job you do in life and I hope you body makes you feel that way because damn I need just one friend in my circle half as intelligent as you Sir. Have a blessed day and thank you thank you thank you. My Fender 51 sounds amazing since I used your knowledge about the pickup heights and applied it to my Baby. Everyone keeps asking me what kind of guitar I have our an playing and when I tell them they don't believe me. Finally quest is done problems solved and I soaked up everything n this video thanks to the way you explain things. I cold wire a book about how much I enjoyed this lesson and almost did un-intentionally. So thanks again your f in awesome brotha!!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪💪🎸🎶🎶🎶🎤

    Great video and thanks for the cheap option on everyday objects that can be used as feeler gauges. I'd like an explanation on when to file the nut. For me it's either (1) if you can get the action perfect with the capo at 1st fret, but it's too high with the capo off or (2) if you just bought a new guitar. Seems like every Fender, Gibson and especially Martin comes with sky-high nuts. I guess it's easier to lower than to raise, but geez, it's a pain for people who have light touch and need low action.

    I believe that 2 tone is an American Special Strat 2015, I have one with 3 Texas Specials. Great guitar. I locked the trem. down. and my action is bit lower at the 7th fret, but still don't have Stratitis. As of 2017 you can't get a sunburst American Special. Notice the vintage tailpiece and saddles. You can learn to play so the saddles don't scratch your palm.

    The reason for the capo is because it takes the nut height out of the equation. Actually on Fender's official setup instructions it does say to put a capo on in the previous step but then they never say to take it off again. Kind of confusing I know haha Thanks a bunch for this video, have used it many times!

    thank you very much Thank you! you are my lifeline! when everything is stormy, when I no longer recognize the handle in my hands, when the rudder no longer responds and when will everything be air to sink and I would like to abandon ship, so I come back here, I calm down, I get to work and I reset all my instruments ... and things calm down ...! and I start surfing again.. looking for mine currents setting my favorite directions.. and everything returns to the crest of a wave for a while.., until another storm hits again.. and off you go again.. Is this the life of a Strat lover!? A continuous Struggle to survive on the crest of the wave!? ... I really think so! And when you're there, that everything is fine... It's fantastic!! Hahahahaha Ciao e grazie ancora,

    👏👍 perfect….if you don’t mind could you go a bit deeper and confirm the nut adjustment clearance heights at 1st fret…that would complete the whole lot. Also what your thoughts on upgrading the standard tuners. Example is i just got a American pro Series 1 and the low E and A has the 2 taller posts and the remaining 4 ( d g b e ) have the shorter posts of equal height. BUT if you buy a locking tuner kit from fender there is 3 tall and 3 short…will there be any break angle issues in your opinion. And its hard to but single tuners for some reason. Loved your vid by the way and very clearly presented…cheers from australia.

  • @Condor512

    @Condor512

    3 жыл бұрын

    String Heights should be the same across the Fretboard: 4/64" / 1/8" for each string. Those heights are adjusted w/ each individual Saddle using the little Hex Wrench that comes w/ your Strat. Note; Lowering the Saddle under string tension is okay, raising it is NOT, loosen the string first. Also, the Saddle must be Level, if you turn one screw a 1/2 turn, turn the 2nd screw the same amount. Setting up a Strat is easy & DON'T be afraid of adjusting the Truss Rod. Many Neck & Fret issues can be corrected by a small adjustment of the Truss Rod. Remember wood changes (Expands, Bends, Shribks) with Humidity, As a World-Renowned Guitar Tech says: 'Gremlins aren't sneaking in at night & changing your Saddle Heights'. :-)
