I built fence for for 25 years for a living and you're one of the few who had enough sense to clean UP your fence line before you even started ! For a 5wire Bwire fence , there is a standard 9 inch spacing between the 5 wires . The distance from the top wire to the bottom is 3 feet , 4 x 9 =36 inches !

Thanks! there was no way we could fence without havbing cleared the fence line, where were nasty bushes and thorny bushes all around. it would have been nearly impossible. and i had no idea about the spacing, we just did 12 inches 😬

I grew up in Az. I am going to enjoy watching you tame the Az. desert. Putting up fence is soooo much fun. 🤪 Great job!

Beautiful piece of property. I live in Santa Cruz county in the mountains on 6 acres. Built a home in 2022 with a well. Love it here. What county are you guys in ??? My husband 60 years old, did the fence himself with little help from me. It’s hard work but really rewarding just with the money saved not hiring someone else to do it 👍🏻

I grew up on a ranch raising cattle. I used to have a lot of scars on my forearms from barbed wire cuts. Don't worry the scars go away after 7 to 10 years LOL we always wrapped The wire a couple of times around the corner post and then twisted it on itself at least three times. That way it didn't come off when you went to tighten it. With just a couple of Staples holding it on it can come off when you stretch it or when the post gets older the Staples can pop out. Really wanting to check out the review for your fence post driver. I had a big heavy tube as a kid to help me smack the post in with.

Most of the scars are on our left arm but we're both right handed, weird lol we tried wrapping the post but we didn't like the look but I guess this will be a lesson learned in the future. Hope it holds up long term. Thanks for the tip, though. We'll review the post driver soon!

You are absolutely correct. A lot of the fence we built was done with help from the NRCS and had to be done to government spec and inspected. They have very specific guidelines down to how many wraps around the post and wire, even on the splices.

NIce fence! My wife and I are doing much the same thing in north eastern Arizona. Wish my place wasn't so rocky and I could do put in a fence too. I see the MarPat and bloused boots and wonder.😆

We've had to fence and cross fence every place we've had, the last one was 211 acres so this video is giving me PTSD 😊. Good job guys 💪👏 Just a little tip, always start with the top wire so you don't have to go past the wires as you pull the rest of the wires.

Thanks for sharing! I am taking notes lol. The trailer with kitchen and solar is good thinking! I am going to need similar tool bet and tools. Good ideal with the fencing! Fence looks great, but your wire is running on the outside not the inside of your paddock. Any live stock can push your lines off your posts and the staples out also. If they run inside the paddocks much more difficult for this to occur. Larger live stock of course are the biggest culprits for this.

Thank you! Yes, you are right about the wire being on the outside. it was ment to keep out the trespassers. If we ever have animals large enough, we'll make them a separate enclosure the right way! Thanks for pointing that out though!

Hey, thanks! Appreciate the support. Usually before you buy or after, you can get a survey done to have all your corners marked out for you. Also, in your counties Assessors page there are coordinates that you can plot as well!! Hope that helps!

It's going to be a few thoughsands. Add another grand on top if you want to buy some power tools to make the job easier on the body and faster. Add a couple more Grand if you want to pay someone to do it for you. All in id say about 5 to 6K. We did it ourselves so it only cost us around 3 Grand unofficially.

it's called the Sportsman Earthquake post driver. It works wonderfully. Couldn't have done it without it.

With T-post and barb wire I’d estimate $750/acre since they did the labor.

It's “Tought” It means tight or tense, not relaxed or slack. It's especially used when talking about a rope or piece of fabric. It's just a preference, I guess lol

Fences in remote areas are a waste of money, they dont stop anyone. When fence was cheap it might have been worth it but the cost is outrageous, just get insurance and let tgem take things

We built it mostly because people were driving through the property and were turning it into a quad trail. We would rather not have people making tracks and camping on the property.

Just 'Post' it. I have had hundreds of acres over the years and posted them to advise that this is Private Property, but that you may pass through, but 'Take Nothing and Leave Nothing and Do Not Disturb Anything'. Currently on my river front property, I allow the public access. I even made a path with steps and hand rails so children and the less physically capable can access the river and swim and fish or just enjoy the river. I also cleared an area and put in a picnic table so a family can have a picnic. I have posted rules. 'No Smoking' _ 'No Loud Music/Swearing'_ 'No Camping' _ 'No Fires or Barbecues' _ 'No Firearms or shooting/Hunting'(we have waterfowl and deer). _ 'Pack it Out' _ Hours are 6:am _ 10:pm' _ 'Leave No Trash'. So far it has worked well and people have even asked if we need any help and not just on the access, but everything from mowing our lawn to oil changing our vehicles and some have left a bottle of wine and a Six-pack of Micro brews. The only issues we have had is with smokers. We advise them that the privilege of access is dependent on following the rules and to put their cigarette into the receptacle provided on the signed post. This has never created an issue and compliance is immediate and usually with an apology. Generally other visitors advise others of the rules. I grew up in farm and ranch country where the public is restricted from enjoying the adventure of a hike through God's good earth because somebody owns a a few acres to thousands and often block access o Public Lands.
