Fence Panel Mosaic: Full Process and Completed Result 2018

This is a 14 minute film showing the entire process of how I made my Fence Panel Mosaic for my garden, which I created between October to December 2016. It gives top tips on the materials I have used as well as how I overcame the problem of sealing the marine ply before adhering the mosaic.
I am truly grateful to my friend, film producer, Rob Lindsay for doing a fabulous job in editing the original film!
My website is mangomosaics.co.uk/
My work can be found on social media as Mango Mosaics.

Thanks for your lovely comments! Why not give mosaic making a go? All you need are some tiles, glue/tile adhesive and a surface to glue on.... it's so therapeutic! You'll probably understand and transform your skills in shape, form, texture and colour from your textiles experience. All the complicated bits with tools and wot not can be sorted it a couple of artist workshops 😁

Hello Caroline, I love your work and your very instructive videos! Easy to follow your verbal and visual instructions! I am new to mosaic art like several others who commented below. I want to install a mosaic design on our new sauna floor. How would that method of installation differ from what you have done on your exterior wall installations? The sauna is a dry sauna, but is also used with small amounts of water applied to the heater rocks to produce steam. One concern, besides potential moisture, is that the surface needs to be uniform and comfortable to walk on. The underlayment/floor right now is cement board coated with a light mortar mix. Thanks for your inspiration and any advice you may have!

Thanks for your lovely comments. I think you'll need to do some research into this. I do totally recommend you contact a well respected tech department in grout/adhesives such as Latricrete, Mapei or BAL. All easy to find via Google in the country you live in. All the best Caroline

Hello, Caroline. I'm belatedly coming across your amazing work and wonderful energy!! I'm a relatively new mosaic person and have the opportunity to mosaic a rather large exterior retaining wall. It's concrete and is actually ideal for adhering the tiles directly to the surface. HOWEVER, I really want to work at home and transfer the design to the location. It looks like you did this fence entirely with mesh and then pieced those together. Can I do that? I found a local mosaic store that sells mesh in 3 yards, yard, and square foot size (U.S. measurements) so I'd get the 3-yards, I think because you can always cut. Thank you in advance for your advice!! T

Yes it is advisable to work in the comfort of your home to create such a large wall. Important to remember that you cover your drawing with plastic then attach mesh layer. Watch my videos in the 'How I Mosaic' section in Playlist. Jot down the top tips. If you are new to Mosaic it might be best to practice first.... after all you wouldn't run a marathon if you have never jogged! Good luck and enjoy 🥰😘😉
