Fun to watch. Feel for Shamir. Tough when you get overpowered, you start overcompensating by going for low percentage shots, when you need to do the opposite. Hang in there, try to wear them down by doggedly bringing everything back. Good positive coaching.

I rewatched their first match. Shamir was way more relaxed then and moving better. I think he started this match already intimidated and defeated. Nick is spot on saying Shamir is thinking too much about his opponent. I have the same problem sometimes. Against much better opponents we just gotta trust our shots and go down fighting. :)

The only people who'd be hard on the guy are people who've never played competitive tennis. He looked like a perfectly good 4.0 out there, it's just that he was facing the equivalent of a 5.5 or 6.0 whose power, accuracy, movement, fitness level, and every stroke was superior to his. It's actually impressive that he was able to win as many points as he did, particularly as he's not tall enough to blast big serves for free points.
Dude, you have my full respect. I just got swept off the court by a D1 female player but I was so happy as I was able to win 4 pts for the whole short set.
Great video. It’s crazy how many coaching comments also apply to my matches. I wish my coach watched my matches 😅

This was a great showcase of how mindset and focus are so important. Shamir got lost in his own head many times but you can see when he locked in he was able to produce good rallies and put on pressure and not just receive it. But things like rushing to serve, not remembering how to toss for a kick, and losing track of the score again (showing a lack of focus) cost him opportunities to win more points.

Ema is playing amazing and I’m impressed with Shamir’s serve (despite a few double faults, you’d tell him to go slice wide and he would do it, then slide on the T and he would do it, great improvement).

Keep content like this coming! Very entertaining! Great job guys!
Shamir videos have always been my favorite on the channel since I'm in a very similar spot (albeit at a lower level) in my game. I feel like I can keep up with better players until I get pushed around on my backhand side and even when I make a few top spin shots and even win points off them I go back to slicing because it feels safe and comfortable even if it's logically not getting results.
Tennis is about consistency. And we can clearly see it here. What a game for Ema.

Great video and great advice Nick! Love the way you are analyzing Shamir game. But for me it was little bit to much coaching. I think that letting the player cool down little bit and trying to figure things out on his own can be very beneficial. I am not saying not to coach at all but little bit less, maybe between the games. It seemed that Shamir was getting more thight because he was trying to do everything you said every point and was more worried what you thought about the point than himself. That put alot more pointless pressure on him. But nevertheless great video and it is only my opinion.

Nick usually doesn't over coach but he likes Shamir too much🙂
What a great match, Shamir you have to give your opponent a chance to make mistakes, you need to play more shots in the middle of the court and try higher percentage shots and keep the ball deep as possible. I played a guy who plays college tennis at Embely Riddle and I hit my shots in the middle and tried attacking his second serve, which caused him to double fault a few times. You also have to stop slicing your back hand so much, just stand back a little further from the baseline like Coach was saying. Or take the ball on the fly if you are going to hug the line. I think you are playing great tennis my dude. Nick has helped you improve so much and it’s really great to see your improvement over the year my dude. Emma you are an amazing player and I really hope you continue to improve and do well on the tour. Thank you Coach for posting this terrific match.
Great Video guys, Shamir has improved and Ema was near perfection (why aren't you in BERLIN!?). Thanks Nick, great coaching!
Emma tooo good, great effort from Shamir though 👏👏
Great video! Shamir unintentionally hooking Ema is hilarious.
Great match. Improvement on both sides!
Props to Shamir. Courageous to face a WTA player. Very good rallies and very good backhand. Looking forward to see next year remarch!
I think this is a good example of how important is to not have a very worse shot in your game. Samir FH is fine, serve speed is ok, but when Ema got to his backhand it was over most of the time and better players will always hit to obvious weakness. So the lesson here is to improve the backhand somehow, then he would have a better chance
@Alexander-dt2eq
6 күн бұрын
even with a decent backhand he would lose 0-8 or 1-8, what he needs is a threat. and a consistent top-spin backhand (as a double-hander can play) is a perfect defensive and offensive shot that female players do not like as they play more flat.
The first backhand Shamir hit and it was point. Shamir's overall level has increased. I could tell from the first couple of rallies. Maybe he needs a bit more explosiveness and quicker reactions to be able to compete with Ema. Great video Nick❤. How do you manage to release so many videos in a relatively short period of time? Do you have a team of people in charge if editing and uploading it? Thank you Shamir and Ema. Enjoyed watching it 😊

Cmon Shamir! Got hit these backhands!!!
Such a great video. I’ve certainly been in the same situation, we all make the same fundamental mistakes
Watched the game from last year again and man...what a positive difference for both players. Shamir's intensity is much higher and that's a huge statement to make since (at least in my opinion) Shamir is such a chill nice guy that he's going against his natural intensity/muscle memory. He can definitely make himself more intense if he keep it up with this great coach. Common Shamir! Emma on the other hand is just fire. Huge difference in her movement, intensity and focus. Would love to see this happen again in a few months (maybe 6?) if Shamir can keep up his training with Nik. Hope it happens. Thank you Nik as always! M

Good match. Shamir has improved tremendously but Ema got better too
“Great choice” 😭 🤣
Shamir has definitely improved in all areas. Cool to see. His backhand was his Achilles heal in both matches. Even a year ago his topspin backhand was good. It just needs to be incorporated into his game. I'm guessing it's the transition between forehand and backhand and between serve and backhand. He can hit great topspin backhands all day if that's all he needs to do.
@IntuitiveTennis
5 күн бұрын
The clay last year gave him more time, this hard court was quite fast and he was lacking time especially on bh side.
I see improvement in Shamir. Backhand is better when he hits it. Slice could be better...it was totally defensive in this match. He missed every down the line. He needs more height and spin...because he did have opportunities. Not the easiest shot though. Emma looks really good. Of course she is a class player and has really taken her game up. She knows how to train and she seeks advice from you. A very interesting set. It just shows really how hard it is to beat or even take games off a high level player.
Thank you for the top content! Love it!!! I guess Shamir should sneak to the net when he is throwing opponent from the base line. Great slice wide but the first shot in the same direction very unpopular choice :) Shamir is a human :) Emma is a machine :)

This was fun to watch. And for any of you Rushmore (movie) fans: Shamir is Max Fischer; Nick is Herman Blume; and Ema is Miss Cross. Someone needs to do a deepfake of their faces using the scene when they’re out to dinner after Max’s play (Milan can be Dr. Peter). Just in the first game the decision making of this guy is pissing me off. Not a single one of those slices were necessary
Great Match Even if you're not coaching Emma, would be great to give her a camera so she can still share her thoughts during the match
Good content for recreational players. We all are Shamir at some point: we have the strokes, technic, but our decision making is not always there. Shamir forehand is way better now. I supposed mindset is trainable.

I think you should have let him play more instead of coaching him every point imo. And maybe after each game give him some tips/feedback.🤔 He has got the stokes etc, but misses the confidence due to the nerves i think.

Yes! So much better!
All for the content. Just goes to show how good Ema is. She is a pro player. A 4.0 or 4.5 cannot beat her. It would be a great experience to play against someone this good but the levels are way too different. Put Emma against a 5.0 and it might get interesting
It's great for your content Shamir is such an overthinker, I generally like your discussions and his questions. But he needs to get rid of all that mess in a match. Looks like he has so much going on in his head that he forgets the basics. Asking if a kick serve is the high percentage choice in the eighth game really killed me :) I am sure he knows that as you told him so many times, but he was probably so afraid of her returns his serving ability and even knowledge totally collapsed by the end of the match. But he really deserves an applause for the bravery to get crashed like this again in front of all your viewers. I wish him the best and I would like to see his match against someone that is not so many levels above his. The lack of focus was probably caused by Emma overwhelming him. But it's also a mind setup thing, he really needs to work on focusing on the game plan and the shots themselves. A match is not the right time to ask basic questions. Your coaching was great though. It was funny when you told him he can't lose the score because it's the purpose of playing tennis. I sometimes think the score occupies my mind too much and I would play better if I could just forget it. Like some pros when they are in the zone. I remember Tsitsipas forgetting the score a few times, it also happened to Federer. And it's usually when they played best and being super focused. Us recreational players never have the luxury of having and external scoring system, so we always need to think about the score and sometimes I hate it.
Emma's footwork was so much busier and her intensity really shows. Shamir could do with better 'readiness' he seemed slower to react ...nerves probably? Get busy Shamir😂 love seeing his progress though.Really fun watch😊
No chances, Ema is too consistent. A 5.0 may do the job to catch up and playing

"You can't lose the score." We all have our Shamir moments.
The difference I noticed between them is more for psychological. Ema was going for winning mode vs Shamir was fighting for survival. Fear vs fearless!
