The Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology, known for numerous performances of oratorio works, presented a cappella repertoire during the concert on Tuesday, January 29 in the Hall of the Main Building of the PG.
During this concert, the choir presented as many as 16 songs. The repertoire includes compositions that have provided AChPG with awards at prestigious festivals and concerts last year. They represent different eras, from romanticism to the present day, and a variety of styles, such as orthodox church music and negro spirituals, and their authors are eminent composers from Poland and the world.
The performance was divided into 3 parts. The first of them was attended by the most numerous executive group: the permanent composition of the AChPG and the candidates who had just joined the October recruitment. There are over 50 people on the stage! The second part with a slightly more difficult repertoire was performed by regular Choristers. The last, third part consisted of the competition repertoire, which the Choir prepared for the "Silver Bells" festival mentioned above; this part is only performed by the competition. The high form of the whole band meant that all songs performed during this concert present a high level and clearly show the excellent condition of the Gdańsk University of Technology Academic Choir.
The latest success of the Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology is the first degree award in the category of mixed choirs, the first degree award and the first place in the category of orthodox church music, as well as the special distinction of the House of Polish Culture in Latvia during the 13th International Silver Bells Festival of Sacred Music.
