Felicity Plantation

#felicityplantation #oldriverroad #drbillboudreaux
Felicity Plantation is a historic sugarcane plantation on the banks of the Mississippi River in St. James Parish. Felicity is a sister plantation to St. Joseph Plantation. It was built around 1846 and was for Felicite Emma from her father.
The antebellum plantation house has elements of French Colonial and Anglo-American styles. It is characterized by its wide hallways and high-ceilinged rooms. Several of the rooms contain red Italian marble mantlepieces.
The house was damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has since been restored.

This is the second video I've seen of a tour of this home from The Skeleton Key movie. 2025 will be the 20 year anniversary of the movie and I'm hoping to travel to New Orleans to go on this tour. I was in New Orleans in 1993 on a business trip and loved it. Thank you so much for this video!

Too bad the piano playing drowned out the woman narrating. It would have been more interesting to have heard her talking about the history rather than hearing the piano playing which not only ruined what seemed like an interesting video but was unnecessary. Pity.

An inanimate object is not guilty of the sin of slavery. A brick and mortar structure is not guilty of slavery. Indiviual people were the guilty party and they are dead. Is the current house you live in now guilty of your sin or the sin of its previous owners? Your logic is so flawed.

No. If we rip away history, there is little tangible evidence of it existing. History repeats itself. These things educate those who never knew or cannot imagine. And for those who cannot travel to these locations, videos like this help so m at more people learn of American history. It sucks. It’s horrible but it happened. We must not forget!!!!!!!!
