On March 11th, 2011, Japan suffered huge earthquake and tunami. More than 25,000 people was dead and about 2,500 people was still missing. In Fukishima, nuclear power plant was broken as you may know. Many musicians cancelled their visit to Japan because they were afraid of radioactive pollution. In such circumstances Dame Felicity Lott came to Japan just one month later after the earthquake. She sang “Morgen” as encore of her recital. I watched her recital by broadcasted video when I was so depressed because of the continuing aftershock. I could not stop shedding tears when I saw Dame Felicity singing “Morgen” , but still she gave courage to me and to all the Japanese people. And so this video is my eternal memoir.

So emotional. She says everything with her singing and her facial expression. And that song is a true masterpiece. Just wonderful.

Dame Felicity Lott sang Brahms German Requiem in Wexford in 1979. I was lucky enough to be in the the Wexford Festival Singers choir for the first time that year. I will never forget the performance she gave. it is indeed very heartening to hear her sing this wonderful song so well in 2011. Well spoken Andrew Johnson- and even better played! An inspiration.

Graham Johnson's spoken preface applies just as well to the current state of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. He and Dame Felicity's heartfelt rendition had me in tears.

Dreary dreary 50’s style dress in depressing color. I think when doing a death benefit the performers should look bright. It is too sad but I get that this would had been televised etc . The voice thankfully was effectively place between throat and head tones never becoming preachy abs too covered…even if this song is usually a snoozebar. Dame Felicity uses her tones well and retains a girlish quality where needed. Beautifully done.
