I remember when in the 70s I was just staring up on a saxophone as a beginner, one day Isaw an Afrikan man man wearing an underwear with a saxophone and an a ganja joint on his hand, smiling. Later I discovered it was Fela Kuti a somewhat notorious rebel politician saxophonist from Nigeria. The rest is history, I read everything about how the subsequent Nigerian governments brutally treated him and his family including his mother thrown by the army out of a window, and Fela himself beaten many times by the Nigerian governments armies. Later this hero musician died from what i believe to be the repercussions of his many beating by the Nigerian army law enforcers. Similarly her mother died of the after effects of brutal harassment by the army and police that led to her being thrown out of the window in a couple of stories building, because of her political convictions that were against the likes of the then Nigerian government. I'm a South Afrikan but I send my message to Fela in the African Ancestral Spiritual Abode that I'm with him and pay my gratitude for his influence on me as a young musician and a fellow saxophonist/vocalist, and I believe there's still a lot to be done by musicians. Glad his sons are doing it like their father. May he be welcomed to our Afrikan Ancestral Spiritual world.!!!

I think that African american's should be taught more about Africa, the language's and other culture's that just "Nelson Mandela". I heard about Fela Kuti back in the 1990's and I feel that many of us who are linked from the African slave trade of the 1500-1840's could benefit greatly by learning about the GREAT CONTINENT of our ancestor's..

I rushed to grab a pen waiting for his name to be announced to write it down & have been listening to it ever since. RIP Fela Kuti. He will always be a legend. Love this.
How can it be anything less than a dancing Felabration!!! 🕺🏾💃🏾🕺🏾💃🏾
Wow Wow Wow! I don't know who is singing. I've never heard this song before but that is definitely the Egypt 80 band. Nowhere else will you get that kind of totally hypnotizing Afro-beat rhythm.
How come I'm seeing this in 2021? Fela is a living legend in our hearts.

Rest in peace babaa fela, this is the memorable burial I've ever seen in Nigeria
I took That picture at the back of the car
Walked all the way from The National Stadium ,Surulere, Lagos to Gbemisola Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, and I never felt a thing, not with the great abami in front of me,it was a walk against oppression, racism, hate, corruption and everything baba detest, and a walk for life, for freedom, for love, for togetherness, happiness and everything Fela loves. Rest in peace bro,not even their NYSC endurance trek comes close

How sad to hear the death of a great influence and the tragic story of his mother. I just found out about Fela Kuti in 2017....so glad they was playing his 🎶music on the 📻 radio back then. I rushed to grab a pen waiting for his name to be announced to write it down & have been listening to it ever since. RIP Fela Kuti. He will always be a legend. How sad that the Nigerian government may have had something to do with his death. Another one gets silenced now don't they.
I never build house, I never drive hummer...Mama still dey for house. We to fear to die, we to fear to talk true... Only three men in Nigeria were ever bold enough to cross the line Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Ken Saro Wiwa & Gen.Tunde Idiagbon ... true sorrow, tears & blood. RIP
