Fein BLK 5 Heavy duty nibbler repair. how to replace a motor . Part 1.

Apologies for the 2-part video.
Had to wait over a month for these parts to come in. Sadly, I messed up when recording the second half. So I have to post a 2-part video.
Also, sorry for the second video format in advance.
This is a Fien BLK5 nibbler. capable of eating through a 5mm steel plate.
Don't get too many of these fein tools in as they are fein, and are extremely well built.
The winding on the armature on this one was all torn up. Something had to have gotten into the motor while running to have caused this damage.

I'm staggered at how much these retail for. I'm seeing 2000-3000 EUR online. Fingers crossed 🤞you're able to repair this for 200-300 EUR. Looking forward to part 2.

Yep, Fein makes really good tools. Expensive, but definitely worth the money.

I agree as well. I have a Multimaster 250 from 2011 that has seen quite some use, and I can't say it's been handled with silk gloves. Still running like new, and a quite useful machine.

Their cordless grinders are just a little bit more expensive than the bosch ones but they use the same 18v battery and are made in germany.

Milwaukee: Our tools are expensive to fix and not worth it. Fein: Hold my nibbler.

If for instance you have a Mafell ls103. Owned it for 23 years and it needs a new motor at a cost of 2x than it was 5 years ago... the best money spent is to get the machine up and running so it's back up, running and earning it's keep, it's continuing doing the job as it always has done besides the point it's moving on with it's 4th new motor!

Thanks for the video/s. They're entertaining and educational! Looking forward to part 2. I've got a brushless 12V drill from Fein and I love it. It has 4 gears with the fourth being around 2300 rpm. There's about 40 nm of torque in first gear so it can do plenty. It's small, light and well balanced. Some trivia... rumour has it that Festool's oscillator and grinder are Fein's rebadged with a little work done. Fein invented the multitool and are arguably the oldest powertool company being founded in the nineteenth century.

Dear Mr. Dean Happy New Year 2024 . Sometimes to find a working scrap saves a lot of money . Using the parts from scraps of that model is also good. You can deal with one Pakistani motor winder and he will do and send it back to Europe , there are a lot of Asian workshops for rewinding .

I am looking for similar long bits as you use while disassembling, could you maybe add referral links to where you buy them if you still know? German Fein is pronounced exactly like the English 'fine', by the way. Thank you so much for your videos!

It's like Hilti. Super expensive and well built but i can get a tool that will last 2/3rds as long at 1/2 Price. Cost averaging. But the Fein is the heavy duty option if you're looking to cut 6 gauge and up. Super tough tool.

That is one hell of an expensive nibbler! 1500 EUR for end piece replacement? You said it had done a lot of work, how many years can one expwct out of original purchase price investment?
