Feeling PRIMORDIAL at Lagoon - My Return (June 2024) Farmington, Utah
I got back to Lagoon for the first time in 5 years, got some fresh perspectives on the park and all the coasters, and got my first ride on PRIMORDIAL!

Maverick should be on there.
I love the toilet signs for bathroom. The most Rollercoaster tycoon thing in this roller coaster tycoon like park.
A hint for anybody going to this park. Avoid rope dropping primordial. In my experience it often has a smaller line after 2pm and if you go to the other side of the park you can literally ride every single roller coaster in the first hour and then wait an hour and a half for primordial in the afternoon if it's a busy day I've seen the line as small as 30 minutes in the afternoon on a weekday
@AirtimeThrills
Ай бұрын
Yeah based on where I started and where the line was later in the day, it still seems like rope dropping was a good idea. I would have only waited maybe 25-30 min if it wasnt for the breakdown
Lagoon is such a great park, and now, with the addition of Primordial, they've really made a name for themselves. It's definitely one of the most underrated parks in the country, albiet a bit pricey. Have you ever checked out Pioneer Village? It's a huge portion of the park in the back, and it has tons of old historic cabins and the parks river rapids ride, and a surprising amount of people miss it.
$100 for a park like Lagoon is robbery.
@jw.coasters
Ай бұрын
Is it really though? They have 11 coasters, the park is extremely clean and kept up well and the operations are the best you'll find outside of a Disney/Universal park. All of those things cost money. The park is also not covered in ads. People complain about those aspects of Six Flags...but fixing those issues costs money. Food and merchandise in the park also tends to be a lot cheaper than you find elsewhere.
@DoomPlague
Ай бұрын
@@jw.coasters Cedar Fair parks are not covered in ads, many have good operations and more/better coasters and you can get in for half this price. I was just at Europa Park and Phantasialand. Massive, well-ran parks with theming that rivals Disney along with top-shelf coasters and neither cost that much.

@@jw.coasters There are parks with good operations, aren't covered in ads and have way better ride lineups and cost half as much. Lagoon charges Disney prices without a Disney experience. In fact, I went to a Disney park recently for less not to mention other parks with a similar level of operations, theming, etc as Disney/Universal.. Now if you want to sell me on the idea that Lagoon pays its employees a more livable wage and that's why its high, I would get it but it sounds like they're just taking advantage of the lack of good parks in the region.
"The old sign" actually gave me a pretty solid laugh. Thanks for including that.
Video idea: top 10 most two-faced coasters (coasters that were once smooth but became unbearably rough, coasters that run completely different in morning/afternoon, etc)
Welcome to our local park! My teen daughters and I went to Lagoon today. No big vacation this year so we bought season passes as we live 45 mins away and have been 5 times in the last 2 weeks, so the pass has paid for itself. On weekdays most rides are close to walk on which is awesome. Today the line for primordial kept getting shorter and shorter as the day went on until it was only 20-30 mins or so by 5pm. Great family friendly ride for our local park - 2 different visual endings and three possible physical ones makes for a surprise every time so re-ridability is high. We love it.

Nice coverage! Lagoon and I go way back to the 80s, my first credit was Puff, I had a season pass throughout high school and a couple years as an adult. I live 10 minutes from the park, but I haven’t been to the park in over 5 years due to their prices. Since I have flight benefits I’ve bought Sea World, Cedar Fair, and Six Flags season passes numerous times since I’ve last been to Lagoon. Still love the place though and I’d like to ride Primordial at some point.

Welcome back! 🥳 My six year old watches your past Lagoon visits all the time, and we were stoked to see you made it back to ride Primordial! I know it isn't a thrill roller coaster like Cannibal, but gosh, we LOVE it!!! It feels akin to a Universal Studio's ride. Like you said, a very impressive feat for this independent park. And it makes that pricey ticket feel worth it! We were hoping for some more footage of your on-ride experience. Anyways, we hope you have a fun summer touring with your girls!

2019 feels like a million years ago. I can't believe it's only been five.
Spent about six months in Utah between late 2022 and early 2023 while we were between houses moving across the country, so we basically arrived right at the end of the 2022 season and left just before they opened for the 2023 season. Need to go back and ride Primordial at some point though, but after the move we at least have Carowinds for a home park now. Primordial looks very good, and seems like too much R&D and investment to just be a one-off. I'd be interested to see if Lagoon/ART Engineering gets into the business of selling rides to other parks at some point...
@sidvernon6343
Ай бұрын
It was really Lagoon, ART Engineering, Triotech, and Actemium.
The ticket system is a holdover from the days before Lagoon had an all-day passport price, when you would buy an entrance pass and then buy tickets to go on rides. They still sell park entry passes, I believe, so they still sell tickets. Primordial was aiming for a late 2020/2021 opening before Covid. They lost, outright, an entire year of labor on it, and then only got work done in bits and pieces during 2021. Finally got it completed late last summer and opened for the Halloween season last fall.
Idea: you come back to Lagoon on July 22nd this year and we might run into each other 😅

Lemme just say, on the only day I rode Primordial, I was told it was a two hour wait, it ended up being a three hour wait, and that took up quite a bit of our day...
I love how the OU hat is still riding strong! God Bless Jim Ross
Tbh I would sit out on primordial if it already has an hours long wait after the rope drop lol. Jet star is super sketchy I hope someday they try to make it more permanent because having to hammer the track and supports is an accident waiting to happen. 13:08 the only reason why I believe you is because my home park is Elitch Gardens (the best theme park ever) and I hit my head on the turn after the brakes. If only I was able to go to at least 1 amusement park on my vacation to California 2 weeks ago.
@sidvernon6343
Ай бұрын
It is permanent. It’s what happens when you have a ride with a base frame foundation. Every coaster with this type of foundation is designed and engineered to move. Pounding the blocks back into position actually means the park cares about your safety.

Fun fact: The reason that there are only 2 Zierer Tower Coasters is because its not an official model. Both Wicked and Impulse were designed in-house by their respective parks and they contacted Zierer to fabricate and build the coasters.
Video idea: Ranking the 1, 2 punches of every Six Flags park, then Cedar Fair Park, then SeaWorld and Herschend, then Independent parks.

It looks like Colossus got some much needed TLC since the last time I rode it, which admittedly was almost 20 years ago. It looked somehow older than it was, and it felt like it was going to fall apart the whole time riding it. But the paint looks great, and it sounded a lot smoother than any other time I remember riding it before.
Lagoon looks super fun. Price is crazy but supply and demand always wins. Cannibal looks to be a bucket list coaster. FYI sea world San Antonio is offering platinum pass to all parks for 195 all in price. Makes the price seem crazy in comparison What would they get next?
