Thank you for pointing out what a double-edged sword California's public assistance programs can be. I experienced that first-hand when my mom went on welfare after my parents divorced. We quickly discovered that we could get better medical coverage being on welfare than any workplace insurance! What's the point of going back to work then?

Yes, California does care about people. Lots of social programs. The point of a career would be to make a difference, help people, solve problems, get the money, enjoy life and support the family.

I'm convinced that men have no idea how to be just friends with women. I want to believe it can be different. And I'm going to keep trying to make friends.

I had a supervisor try the same thing with me but I told him I wasn’t interested but he was relentless. Started making the workplace a hostile environment and again, I told him I wasn’t interested but he ended up moving me to a different department and one I didn’t want to work and he knew it. It’s annoying because I liked my job and where I was at and he retaliated because I wouldn’t go to lunch with him. Why should I have to move or pay for his advances? Since moving, he had other problems with younger ladies on the floor and he was moved eventually. It’s not ok.

If you are sexually harassed by a supervisor, I have found you either have to quit, or just grit your teeth and bear it. Almost no one will take your word for it, and fires on the spot (and I understand why they can’t do that). There is always an investigation, sometimes write ups or an “improvement plan”. Then you just have a horrible work environment, and are likely penalized in some way by your offending supervisor. Everywhere has HR policies that are supposed to protect against these things, but I haven’t ever seen it work out well for the reporting subordinate. My perspective is that of a petite woman who has worked in kitchens (am now a chef) for 12 years

Caller 2 didn’t show up to her court date, which is why she received the eviction and had a sheriff lockout. Usually a judge will laugh a landlord out of court if there’s no proof of another tenant, esp if the defendant shows up. Always show up to an eviction hearing/summons from the court, unless you receive a hearing cancellation in the mail- prior to the hearing, period. She could probably sue the kid and the landlord. The landlord also owes her reimbursement for a hotel or have moved her to another unit, ect since her home was inhabitable. Next time, get and keep renters insurance. Get some closure and sue them. Property management was my job for 11 years.

That's the issue, and one reason I don't even bother dating anymore. .Men have decided they are entitled to women who are 10 plus years younger than them, and it doesn't even matter how fat or gross the guy is, they legit have no boundaries. When I moved out of my condo a few years ago, a guy in his 70s, no joke, told me I will miss you, I want to take you out to dinner and we can go back to my place after, adding that he lived alone for a reason. After I vomited on the sidewalk I just walked away shaking my head... just disgusting!
