If you really want to help feral cats, trap them, pay to have them neutered by a vet, and return them to the environment. Just feeding them encourages breeding until the population becomes unsustainable and they starve or become malnourished and get diseases such as feline AIDS and cat flu. If you have a vulnerable native animal population that feral cats hunt, such as lizards and birds, then don’t return the trapped cats to the environment. Take them to a cat sanctuary where they can live out their lives in safety and comfort.
