Feeding corvid families in the backyard

My backyard in Germany. I feed a number of rooks and crow families peanuts and this is my first attempt to capture them on video and up close. The crows are in my yard all year but the rooks only show up during the winter. The rooks think the peanuts are a trap at first and are very cautious about getting close. The crows usually know who I am and go right for the peanuts but I think they were not used to the camera and were a little nervous.

This a flock of rooks, you can tell the difference between them & crows & ravens by the grey / white base of the beak. They are also bigger & with more gravelly, deeper caws than crows, but not as big or gronky as ravens. ✌

Aww towards the end you can see the disappointment as they looked at the others who got food and had the question of "is that all of it?". That shows their intelligence even further. They do have feelings. And some crows don't get food as much as others. But they're the ones who will also notice the ones who look more fed and follow them to where they're eating better.

The social dynamic between each of these Corvid family members i always find EXTREMELY interesting too watch. These birds never cease to amaze me. I've been in the avian field now for nearly 30yrs having "hands on" experience with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. And of ALL the groups of birds i've worked with the Corvid family is my favorite. Simply because of their sheer intelligence being able to use tools like the Hawaiian Crow. To perfecting speech as Common Raven's are quite capable of doing and their clarity on par with the best parrots.

You don't have this species in Canada. They're called "rooks" and are European. The white part is a unique marking of theirs. We have crows (short beaks all black) and ravens (bigger with more hooked beak) and rooks (white patch on beak) as well as magpies which are not in Canada.
