I simply enjoy watching fish eat. I got a 25lb. bag at Rural King in Florida and they love it. I've never seen anyone catch a fish in Scottish Highlands man made pond but they are in there.

They won't take fishing bait if they're being well fed.

That’s cool. I started feeding the bluegill and bass in my lake. They like meat but LOVE live minnows!

But what do they eat if you're not feeding them?

The one I use is Aqua Max by Purina. It looks identical to what he's using. I feed about 200 bluegill every morning and afternoon

im getting on a twice a day schedule so i can throw out zebco ignitor pellets to catch catfish and feed the bream. Thank for the knowledge fearless fish feeding wildlife manager

I live in Alabama and have a 2 acre pond. Please tell me if i need to keep all bluegill no matter what size. If i keep the large ones wouldnt it leed to smaller fish over the years?

It all depends Adequate feed Number of predators Bluegill population You'll notice you have too many bluegill when you notice a stunt in their growth. Ways to fix it are Feeding Add predators like bass Harvest some

@@Jack-ml2cn not exactly, it depends on what you are trying to achieve in your pond. Like I mentioned, how many predators do you have, are you supplementing them food, is there an abundance of forage, etc You'll know when you have TOO MANY bluegill because you'll catch nothing but small stunted ones. You can either remove them or add more predators such as bass. Most of the time I throw every fish I catch in my pond back but once or twice a year I'll go round up some bluegill n have a fish fry

But I also have a question. I have bluegill 2 or 3 inches long in my pond. I feed them a small cup a day usually in the late afternoon. I am disappointed on how slow they are growing. Although it takes them about 20 or 30 min to eat all the feed. Can I feed them more to enhance there growth and reproduction or would that hurt them?

Let brush grow around some of your pond to encourage insect habitats. The closer to nature the better

Release crickets and isopods near the pond. Set up buckets of water and once the mosquito breed dump the larva in to the pond. Flowers are great attracters as well. Set up an artificial bee hive to draw more types of insects also... Hope ive helped a little.

You have to be quite patient, I feed rice and fatty meat like hot dogs all diced up. I have several bluegill over 9 inches.

Does Bluegill chase out rainbows?

In Alabama ponds, trout are not normally stocked, so in this situation, no.

At 10 pounds per day, you are investing about $150 *plus labor* per month. Does this make financial sense? A much better habitat design gives equal results with no ongoing feed investment. Something to ponder.

VedaOPZGuide mosqueto fish are the best because they breed year round, only get one to two inches long, and they are cheap

Now dump a bucket of crickets on the surface of the water

Funny how if you did the same for deer, you would be in jail for the rest of your life. :-D

You can raise fish, you cant raise wild deer.

Terrible water quality. You should be able to see at least two feet with a healthy pond. You can barely see a few inches. Nasty.

Sorry, but you are wrong. Just look on any website dealing with large scale pond care. Btw, I have a 2 acre pond in the south and it never looks, or has any issues like that with water quality. That is the sign of poor maintenance, plain and simple.

@@darkchungus5972 my pond is like 1/8 of an acre, maybe 1/4 in the rainy season....I've got a few 5 plus pound bass, a couple big cats, tons of bluegill, turtles, frogs, you name it and half the time the water is Brown and you cant see barely anything I dont believe clear water neccesarily means "good water" I mean look at most rivers in the south, you can't even see a few inches in the water
