Hi. Thanks for the video. Could you please explain, why you are using 65 cm leader for helicopter rig? I have always thought that with this type of rig, leader should be pretty close to the feeder cage, like 10 or 15cm.

Hi Vester, traditionally a lot of carp fishing rigs use short hooklengths with a helicopter rig. However, for bream and skimmers on natural venues shorter hooklengths don;t often work as well as longer versions. This could be down to the clarity of the water, or the fish are just naturally spooky. Longer hooklengths around 5cm to 1metre definitely outscore shorter lengths on venues like this one.

Strange! Then why do bream get caught on 3 and 4 inch hooklenths whether it's cloudy or clear. You should have said it's your preference entirely, natural or unnatural is neither here or there,a fish is a fish

Worth mentioning it's also match rule on Southfield to use 50cm+ hooklengths.

Hi Kev, these are called Match Special hooks. They are out now and available from Guru stockists. A great pattern for silverfish on the feeder and pole.

I've seen recent videos like this one where barbed hooks are being used which are guru, are we going back to barbed hooks or have I missed something ?

@@robertwren8878 Only really see barbed hooks when using live baits such as worm and maggot, reduces the opportunity for them to free from the hook. 👍
