Fifi_ Leafy it’s so he doesn’t freak out every time they go in there. He associated food with people, and freaked out everything he saw them. So they use a frisbee when he gets fed so he associates food with the frisbee

Its nice that you put that he was loved by an uneducated owner. Some people think that their love is enough but sadly that's not the case. The best gift you can give them is getting an education on what they need and then your love can go a long way

I love how she didn't bash the owners as animal hating abusive freaks who like to see animals suffer. This is a common thing where pet parents want to get a new pet but doesn't do all the research. And though they did love this animal their lack of knowledge made the animal's life very hard. So I'm glad she said how the previous owners were and not just explain how poor of a shape the animal was in and let the audience assume they were hateful bastards😄

Anyone with any sense would know that you can't keep an alligator in a small wooden box for 27 years. If you're going to keep an exotic pet, do some freaking research on how to care for them. They didn't love him, or they would have cared more about what they were doing to him.

It's very noble what you're doing. My sister worked for an organization called Zoo For You, which rescues animals from zoos, circuses and owners who were unprepared for an exotic animal. They have tons of room and expert vets, etc. Everything from tigers and bears to alligators and giant tortoises.

I usually look down on people who own pet alligator due to the fact that people don't understand that these are dangerous creatures that will get BIG!! A lot of people don't understand proper care and treat them poorly. But after watching your video I highly respect you! Don't look down on people for simply not knowing. Imagine if you fed your dogs chicken and your dogs enjoyed it or you kept your dog chained up next to a small doghouse and you believed it was okay. Would you appreciate if I began to berate you on how chicken can be dangeous because the bones are brittle or berate you on how the doghouse was too small and chaining them up was inhuman and restrictive.

I shouldn't chain my dog into a small doghouse, to begin with, and should have done a better job researching what I can/cannot feed my dog. I shouldn't adopt the dog just because he's super cute but knows nothing about basic dog care. I should adopt him simply because I want a family member and willing to commit a long-term friendship. My point is. Do your research.

Grace Lockhart When you task yourself with the responsibility of looking after an animal the most basic step is to research them, especially an exotic wild animal. It's common sense that comes from the understanding that pets are not cute little objects for display and 27 years is a long time to learn that lesson. I don't know the extent of the story behind the previous owner so I won't go judging their overall character, but they were definitely extremely irresponsible.

Adore Mei to respond to reply below original comment, the alligator is damn near before the Internet's rise in fame, considering he's an alligator, probably raised somewhere where books weren't common, hes TWO DECADES, old, you relize how little research would have been done on these critters back in his day as a hatchling? Ignorance isn't a controllable thing sometimes, it's kind of arrogant and condescending of you not to do research of your own and relize just how old this gator is.

Hi Snake discovery! :-) amazing video, what a animal he is is. Iam so happy that he got a new home, and good care by you guys. Thats bring much love into my heart. Myself, reptiles has only been legal for about 3 months now, and now I own 5 snakes, 3 of them I owend for many years. I got a corn snake that I got form a friend from Sweden, but since it was not legal i had to take in 2 other ball pythons from other people around the area i live. sadly. the two ball pythons i adopted are doing so well now, and iam so happy its legal to own reptiles now. One of the python i adoped had burns, and she was only about 5 months, and the other baby girl had pretty much starved for many many weeks, but now they are about 1500grams each. Thank you for making youtube videos, and sorry for my broken a** english but. I really really love this channel. Cant wait for more videos. Thank you again, and many hugs from Norway

My god Rex has grown so much. From not being able to walk more than a few steps and a 4 ft wooden box to death rolls in the zoo. And I think she's gotten even bigger!

@@TheWorkingAussie yeah, I wanna say Rex's room makeover or possibly finger painting with Rex, they even said she's getting too big for her tote 🥺 Idk if they got a new one but... Rex used to be like 4 ft and fit fairly well on Emily's lap. It seems like she may have even gotten a little more length, as well as just muscles from swimming all the time

Mile R depends on each individual state. Emily does say they got permission to have Rex...edit: in the one video where Rex is introduced she does

I turned on the captions and instead of "let's feed him" it said "let's BEAT him"
